The way we host applications is changing fast.
A few years ago, spinning up a VPS or cloud virtual machine, assigning a public IP, opening ports 22, 80, and 443, and calling it a day was normal. That approach is becoming increasingly risky. Automated scanners, AI-assisted vulnerability discovery, and constant probing of public IP ranges mean that any service exposed directly to the internet is under continuous attack.
I recently went through the process of hardening a production environment while building Blast Post, a social media scheduling platform. During that work I moved away from the traditional “public IP + open ports” model and adopted a combination of Tailscale and Cloudflare Tunnel. The difference in security posture is significant.
This article explains why the old model is breaking down, what the new recommended architecture looks like, and how you can apply it to Azure VMs, AWS EC2, Google Cloud VMs, or any regular VPS.
Why Public IPs on VPS and Cloud VMs Are Becoming Dangerous Every cloud provider and VPS host still makes it easy to attach a public IP. The problem is not the IP itself — it is what that IP represents: a permanent, reachable address that anyone on the internet can probe.
Attackers (and now AI-assisted tools) continuously scan large ranges of public IPs looking for:
Open SSH ports (default port 22) Outdated software with known CVEs Misconfigured web servers Exposed databases or admin panels Services with weak or default credentials Even if you use SSH key authentication and keep your system updated, the attack surface remains large. A single zero-day in OpenSSH, a web framework, or a system dependency can turn a public IP into an entry point. The number of automated probes hitting any public IP within minutes of it being assigned is not hypothetical — it is measurable in server logs.
Pieter Levels (levels.io) highlighted this exact issue publicly. He recommended taking VPS instances off the public internet wherever possible and routing both administrative access and web traffic through more controlled channels. That recommendation reflects what many operators are experiencing in practice in 2026.
The Two Main Attack Paths on a Typical Server There are two primary ways an attacker reaches a server:
Through the application — web exploits, file upload vulnerabilities, SQL injection, authentication bypasses, dependency vulnerabilities Through the server itself — SSH brute force, open management ports, services accidentally exposed on public interfaces Traditional hardening tries to make both paths difficult: strong SSH config, firewall rules, fail2ban, regular patching. The modern approach goes further — it removes the public-facing paths entirely wherever possible.
The Modern Architecture: Tailscale + Cloudflare Tunnel The combination gaining strong traction among solo developers and small teams is:
Tailscale for private administrative access (SSH, database connections, internal tools) Cloudflare Tunnel for public web traffic (HTTP/HTTPS serving) How Tailscale Works for Server Access Tailscale builds a private encrypted mesh network (called a “tailnet”) between your devices and servers using WireGuard as its underlying protocol. WireGuard is a modern, audited VPN protocol that is significantly simpler and faster than OpenVPN or IPsec. Once a server joins your tailnet:
You SSH to it using a stable private IP address in the 100.64.0.0/10 CGNAT range (e.g. 100.x.x.x) Port 22 does not need to be open on any public firewall Access is controlled by identity and device membership in your tailnet, not by IP allow-lists The connection traverses NAT automatically using DERP relay servers when direct UDP paths are unavailable The setup is: install Tailscale on the server, run tailscale up and authenticate, confirm you can SSH over the Tailscale IP, then remove port 22 from all public inbound rules. From that point, SSH is only reachable by devices already authenticated to your tailnet.
Tailscale also supports ACLs (Access Control Lists) in its admin panel, so you can restrict which users or devices can reach which servers — useful if you are working in a team.
How Cloudflare Tunnel Works for Web Traffic Cloudflare Tunnel works through the cloudflared daemon you run on your server. This daemon establishes persistent outbound connections to Cloudflare’s edge network. Your public website or API is then proxied through Cloudflare to users — without your server ever accepting inbound connections on ports 80 or 443.
Key advantages:
Ports 80 and 443 can stay closed on the server’s public firewall The application can bind to localhost only — it never needs to be reachable from outside directly Cloudflare’s WAF (Web Application Firewall), DDoS protection, and bot management protect the public endpoint — available on the free plan The server’s public IP is no longer the ingress point for web traffic Because the server initiates connections outward, an attacker scanning the public IP finds no open ports to target for the web application.
Why This Combination Is Stronger Than Traditional Hardening Approach SSH Exposure Web Exposure DDoS Protection Complexity Public IP + open ports High High Provider-level only Low Public IP + strict firewall Medium Medium Limited Medium Tailscale + Cloudflare Tunnel Very Low Proxied via Cloudflare Strong (Cloudflare edge) Medium By removing inbound listeners, you eliminate an entire class of automated attacks — port scanners, brute-force bots, and opportunistic exploit scripts have nothing to connect to. The remaining attack surface shrinks to:
Compromising a device or identity already in your Tailscale tailnet Finding an application-level vulnerability that bypasses Cloudflare’s WAF Compromising your Cloudflare or Tailscale account directly This is a substantially smaller surface than a permanently open port 22 and open web ports.
Practical Application Across Cloud Providers and VPS Hosts The same pattern applies regardless of where the server runs:
Azure VM: Keep a public IP for outbound connectivity if needed, but set the Network Security Group (NSG) to deny all inbound traffic. Serial Console remains available for emergency access via the Azure portal. AWS EC2: Lock Security Groups to deny all inbound. Use EC2 Instance Connect or Systems Manager Session Manager as a recovery fallback. Google Cloud VM: Remove ingress firewall rules. Cloud Console SSH via IAP (Identity-Aware Proxy) stays available as a recovery path. Hetzner, DigitalOcean, Linode, Vultr (regular VPS): Use the provider’s cloud firewall to deny all inbound. The provider’s web console or out-of-band access (VNC/KVM) serves as fallback. In all cases the server still requires outbound internet access so that tailscaled and cloudflared can maintain their connections to their respective networks. Blocking outbound traffic breaks both services.
Implementation Steps (High Level) Install Tailscale on the server: curl -fsSL https://tailscale.com/install.sh | sh, then sudo tailscale up Authenticate the server to your tailnet via the URL printed in the terminal Install Tailscale on your personal devices (laptop, workstation) and join the same tailnet Confirm SSH works over the Tailscale IP (ssh user@100.x.x.x) before closing any ports Install cloudflared on the server and authenticate: cloudflared tunnel login Create a tunnel and route a hostname to your local application: cloudflared tunnel route dns <tunnel-name> yourdomain.com Configure the tunnel to forward traffic from the hostname to http://localhost:<port> Test that the public hostname resolves and the application is reachable through Cloudflare Close public inbound ports (22, 80, 443) in the provider firewall or security group Verify that direct access to the public IP no longer works for SSH or HTTP Important: Always keep a recovery path — Azure Serial Console, EC2 SSM Session Manager, provider VNC/KVM — until you have confirmed the new access methods are reliable. Locking yourself out of a production server without a fallback is a real risk.
Security Considerations and Honest Limitations This architecture is significantly stronger than leaving services open, but it is not a complete solution on its own:
Tailscale account security matters. Enable MFA on your Tailscale account. If the account is compromised, all servers in your tailnet are reachable. Cloudflare is now part of your trust boundary. Cloudflare terminates TLS and can see plaintext traffic. For most applications this is acceptable, but it is worth understanding. Outbound connectivity is required. If your outbound network is restricted, both services will fail. Plan accordingly. Application vulnerabilities are still your responsibility. Cloudflare’s WAF catches many common attacks but is not a substitute for secure application code, dependency management, or input validation. cloudflared process must stay running. Use a process manager (systemctl) to keep it alive across reboots. The goal is not perfect security — that does not exist. The goal is to eliminate the easy, automated, high-volume attack paths that are actively targeting public IPs at scale.
How This Relates to Building Blast Post While building Blast Post — a social media scheduling and cross-posting platform for creators, agencies, and small teams — I applied exactly this model. The application needs to be publicly reachable for users, but the underlying server infrastructure and SSH access do not need to be exposed to the internet.
The same principles that shaped the infrastructure decisions also inform product decisions in Blast Post: minimize unnecessary exposure, prefer well-understood patterns over clever ones, and treat security as a baseline rather than an afterthought. If you are running an application that handles user data, scheduled jobs, or API keys for third-party platforms, reducing the public attack surface of your host is a reasonable baseline requirement in 2026.
Final Recommendation If you currently run a VPS or cloud VM with a public IP and open management ports, evaluating Tailscale for private access and Cloudflare Tunnel for web traffic is a practical next step. The initial setup takes a few hours. The ongoing reduction in risk is continuous.
The old model — “public IP + open ports + correct firewall rules + hope” — is increasingly fragile as scanning and exploitation become more automated. Moving administrative access into a private network and public traffic through a well-managed edge is becoming the standard approach for small and medium deployments in 2026.
The recommended sequence:
Set up Tailscale and confirm private SSH works Set up Cloudflare Tunnel and confirm public web traffic works through it Close inbound ports on the provider firewall Test every access path thoroughly Document your recovery procedure The internet is more aggressive than it was. Your infrastructure should reflect that.
Last Updated: October 27, 2026 | If this helped you, consider sharing it with someone running an unprotected VPS.

https://anidsiam.github.io/blogs/secure-vps-tailscale-cloudflare-tunnel-2026/

The way we host applications is changing fast.

A few years ago, spinning up a VPS or cloud virtual machine, assigning a public IP, opening ports 22, 80, and 443, and calling it a day was normal. Shopping or calling a friend? Forget it. That’s what happened to Kenneth Shock. But now, thanks to Neuralink’s VOICE trial, he’s talking again – straight from his thoughts.
This fresh update from Neuralink shows real hope for speech restoration. Kenneth, diagnosed with ALS in 2024, became the second person in their VOICE clinical trial to get the N1 brain implant. In January 2026, surgeons placed the tiny chip in his brain. Today, he can say things like “I am the man who speaks with his mind” without moving his lips. It’s not sci-fi anymore. It’s happening right now.
What Happened to Kenneth Before the Neuralink Brain Implant ALS slowly takes away control over muscles, including the ones you need to speak. For Kenneth, it started changing his voice during the pandemic. By 2024, even short talks tired him out. His wife shared how hard daily life got – no more easy shopping trips or quick phone calls.
In the new video from Neuralink, you see Kenneth in his chair, talking about the struggles. “I can’t even go shopping anymore,” he says. It hits hard. About 80 to 95 percent of people with ALS lose their ability to speak as the disease gets worse. Eye-gaze devices or other tools help a little, but they’re slow and frustrating.
Kenneth wanted more. When he heard about Neuralink’s work on brain-computer interfaces, he signed up. He knew the N1 implant could pick up brain signals meant for speech and turn them into real words.
How the Neuralink N1 Implant Works for Speech Restoration The N1 brain implant is a small chip with tiny threads that go into the brain’s speech areas. It reads the signals your brain makes when you think about talking – the same ones that used to move your mouth, tongue, and voice box.
Here’s the simple breakdown:
Brain signals get picked up: The implant catches activity from the motor cortex tied to speech. AI decodes it fast: Software turns those thoughts into text or spoken words that sound like your voice. Real-time talk: No typing or blinking needed. Just think it, and it speaks. In Kenneth’s case, the system learned his patterns during calibration. Now he communicates in near real time. The video shows him smiling big, chatting with family, and looking full of purpose. “Neuralink has given me a purpose,” he says with a grin.
This is part of the VOICE study (NCT07224256). It focuses on people with severe speech issues from ALS, stroke, or similar conditions. The goal? Get back to natural conversation speeds – up to 140 words per minute someday.
Why This Neuralink ALS Update Matters So Much This isn’t just one man’s story. It’s a big step for anyone living with locked-in syndrome or losing their voice. Before, brain-computer interfaces were mostly for moving cursors or robotic arms. Now, Neuralink is proving thought-to-speech works in real life.
Kenneth is showing the world what speech restoration looks like. The implant bypasses damaged nerves and gives control back. Families can talk without screens or delays. Daily life gets easier – shopping, laughing, sharing stories.
Neuralink notes the N1 is still investigational. It’s not FDA approved for everyone yet, and results vary. But early trials like this build the path forward. The company already plans high-volume production of these implants later in 2026, with more automated surgeries.
What’s Next for Brain Implants and Speech in ALS Patients Kenneth’s progress opens doors. More people with ALS or other conditions could join trials. Neuralink’s patient registry is open if you’re interested – it’s a simple way to learn more.
Experts say we’re close to making this tech feel natural, with tone and emotion included. Imagine a world where no one stays silent because of a disease.
It’s exciting to watch. One brain implant at a time, Neuralink is turning “impossible” into “possible.” Kenneth isn’t just speaking with his mind – he’s giving all of us hope.
If you’re dealing with ALS or know someone who is, stories like this remind us help is coming. Keep an eye on Neuralink’s VOICE trial updates. The future of talking with your thoughts is here, and it’s pretty amazing.
Note: Neuralink devices are investigational and not commercially available. The second problem starts right after your client pays you, how do you actually bring that money home without losing a big chunk of it. A payment gateway for a freelancer is not a checkout button like Stripe, it’s the account that receives your Fiverr or Upwork payout, holds it in USD, and lets you either spend it directly or convert it to BDT at a fair rate. That’s the whole game.
Only Bangladesh has over 700,000 active freelancers as of 2026, and the country consistently ranks among the top 5 to 10 nations globally on platforms like Fiverr and Upwork. The IT and ITES export earnings from Bangladesh have crossed $1.4 billion annually. Yet the payment infrastructure for bringing that money home has always been the weakest link in the chain.
The Pain Freelancers in Bangladesh Have Been Taking for Years For a long time freelancers in Bangladesh and the wider South Asian region had almost no good option. If you wanted to bring your dollar earning home as remittance the process was unclear, slow, and the incentive on remittance was never explained properly by the bank. Global platforms like Payoneer and Wise did exist and they solved the basic problem of receiving money, but the fees for every single feature and the exchange rate they gave was honestly terrible compared to what the mid-market rate actually was.
Another pain is your local bank’s forex fees, international transaction cost and dual currency card. These cards come with many restrictions, and has yearly fees, and most bank employees are not even familiar with how ERQ (Exporters’ Retention Quota) accounts work. Under Bangladesh Bank guidelines, freelancers classified as IT/ITES exporters can retain up to 30 to 50 (for it exporter) percent of their foreign currency earnings in an ERQ account and spend it directly in USD for business purposes like software subscriptions, hosting, and international tools. The problem is the paperwork is heavy, the process is bureaucratic, and bank employees at the branch level often don’t understand the procedure. Some banks do offer a system where you can bring money in USD and spend directly from a card linked to an ERQ account, but the yearly fee and transaction fee on those is high that most freelancers just give up and use whatever their bank offers, even when it’s a bad deal.
What freelancers actually need is a smooth USD spending card that works everywhere without this drama, and that’s exactly the gap WorldFirst, Elevate Pay, and nsave are trying to fill in 2026.
The Bangladesh Government Remittance Incentive: Free Extra Money Many Freelancers Don’t Know About The Bangladesh government offers a 2.5% cash incentive on all inward remittances through legal channels. This means for every $1,000 you withdraw to your Bangladeshi bank or bKash, you get an extra $25 equivalent in BDT on top of whatever the exchange rate gives you. This incentive was introduced to encourage freelancers and overseas workers to use formal banking channels instead of the informal market.
Some of the newer platforms like Elevate Pay and nsave automatically apply this incentive during withdrawal, which is a massive advantage. If you’re withdrawing through a platform that doesn’t apply it automatically, you need to make sure your bank is crediting it, because many banks in Bangladesh don’t explain this properly or apply it late.
Tax Exemption for IT Freelancers in Bangladesh Here’s another thing most Bangladeshi freelancers don’t know or don’t take advantage of properly: the Bangladesh government has extended a complete tax exemption on IT and ITES export income until June 2027 (FY 2026-27). This means if you’re earning from freelancing in IT related fields like:
AI based solution development Blockchain based solution development Robotics process outsourcing Software as a service Cyber security service Digital Data Analytics and data science Mobile application development service Software development and customization Software test lab service Web listing, website development and service IT assistance and software maintenance service Geographic information service Digital animation development Digital graphics design Digital data entry and processing E-learning platform and e-publication Freelancing & Content Creation Call center service Documents conversion, imaging and digital archiving Your income is tax exempt. You still need a TIN (Tax Identification Number) for banking purposes and you should still file your tax return even if the income is exempt, but you won’t owe tax on your freelance earnings. This is a huge incentive that makes Bangladesh one of the best countries in the world for freelancers from a tax perspective right now.
Payoneer vs Wise: The Companies That Partially Solved the Problem Before we get into the newer names let’s talk about the two platforms almost every Bangladeshi freelancer has already used or at least heard of.
Payoneer: The Old Reliable With an Old Price Tag Payoneer is still the Mandatory payment gateway among freelancers in Southest Asia and Bangladesh mainly because Fiverr made it the default option for years and so many emloyeer also use Payoneer. It’s cheap to receive from those platforms if you’re a “Payoneer to Payoneer” transfer, but the moment you step outside that lane the fees start adding up fast.
Here’s what Payoneer actually costs you in 2026:
Fee Type Amount Receiving from Fiverr/Upwork (Payoneer to Payoneer) 0% to 1% Receiving from non-Payoneer source (credit/debit card) Up to 3.0% to 3.2% plus flat fee Receiving via bank transfer/ACH Up to 1% Sending to non-Payoneer bank account 1% to 4% Withdrawal to local bank (BDT) ~$1.50 per withdrawal plus FX markup Payoneer Commercial Mastercard annual fee $29.95 ATM withdrawal per transaction $3.15 FX markup on exchange rate 1% to 2% over mid-market rate Currency conversion fee Up to 3.5% above mid-market in some cases Inactivity fee (12 months no activity) Applicable The exchange rate is where Payoneer really loses freelancers money. It’s not the mid-market rate, there’s a 1 to 2 percent markup baked in, and over a year of monthly withdrawals that markup adds up to real money you’ll never see again. If you’re withdrawing $1,000 a month through Payoneer, that hidden FX markup alone can cost you $120 to $240 a year, on top of all the other fees. Payoneer is not a bad platform, it’s just an old one built for a time when freelancers didn’t have better options.
Wise: Great Rate, But Barely Usable From Bangladesh Now Wise is known worldwide for its transparent pricing and near mid-market exchange rate, and if you could use it properly it would honestly beat most competitors on rate alone. The problem is as of 2026 Wise has restricted functionality for Bangladeshi residents in a very significant way:
Cannot open a full multi-currency account from Bangladesh Cannot order a Wise debit card Cannot get USD, GBP, or EUR account details to receive payments directly Can send BDT out to a Bangladeshi bank account, bKash, or Nagad (from a Wise account funded from another country) So Wise can be used to send money to Bangladesh, but not to receive money from a client or hold a multi-currency balance as a Bangladeshi resident. For receiving Fiverr and Upwork payments, Wise is basically off the table for a Bangladeshi freelancer right now, no matter how good the rate used to be.
This is exactly why WorldFirst, Elevate Pay, and nsave have grown so fast in the last year or two. They stepped in to solve the exact gap Payoneer and Wise left open.
Best Payment System for Freelancers in Pakistan and Bangladesh: The Real Contenders in 2026 Here are the three platforms that are actually solving the problem properly right now for Bangladeshi freelancers:
WorldFirst — best all-round feature set, multi-currency power, and strongest regulation Elevate Pay — best for fast, simple bKash withdrawal and direct client ACH payments nsave — best UI/UX, idle-money interest, and virtual Visa card for spending Each of these platforms solves a different part of the problem, and understanding what each one does best is the key to picking the right one or using a combination of them.
Most Secure Payment Receiving Platforms for Freelancers Before comparing features let’s talk about the thing most freelancers ignore until something goes wrong, regulation and security. This is your money we’re talking about, so it matters who’s actually holding it and under what license.
Regulation Comparison Platform Regulatory Status WorldFirst Over 60 regulatory licenses worldwide including MAS (Singapore), FCA (UK), ASIC (Australia), FinCEN (US), HKMA (Hong Kong), FSA/Kanto (Japan), DNB (Netherlands) Elevate Pay Y Combinator W24 backed, funds held in FDIC-insured partner bank (Merchants Commercial Bank, up to $250,000 per depositor) nsave Y Combinator S23 backed, uses FCA-regulated Keel Money infrastructure, Alpaca (FINRA/SEC regulated, SIPC member) for stock trading WorldFirst is clearly the most secure of the three, and it’s not close. Having over 60 regulatory approvals including multiple top-tier regulators like MAS, FCA, and ASIC puts it in a different league compared to a typical fintech startup. WorldFirst was originally founded in London, UK in 2004 and was acquired by Ant Group (formerly Ant Financial, affiliated with Alibaba Group) in 2019. This gives it massive financial backing and access to Ant Group’s global infrastructure.
Elevate Pay’s FDIC insurance through Merchants Commercial Bank is solid for your deposited funds, with the standard $250,000 per depositor protection. This is a meaningful safety net, especially compared to platforms that only have “safeguarding” systems.
nsave’s situation is more nuanced. Keel Money provides the FCA-regulated infrastructure for the banking side, and Alpaca (which is FINRA/SEC regulated and a SIPC member providing up to $500,000 protection per customer for securities) handles the stock trading. But nsave itself as the front-facing platform doesn’t hold its own top-tier license. This matters more when you start using the interest and investment features than for simple payment receiving.
WorldFirst Review: What’s Good and What’s Missing What’s Good About WorldFirst Over 60 regulatory licenses including top-tier regulators like MAS, FCA, ASIC, and FinCEN, making it the most secure option on this entire list by a wide margin. No other platform in this comparison even comes close to this level of regulatory oversight.
15+ free currency accounts in one place. You can hold and receive money in USD, GBP, EUR, AUD, CAD, SGD, CHF, HKD, JPY, CNH (Chinese Yuan Offshore), NZD, HUF, SEK, NOK, and more. All of these are held with tier-one global banks like Citibank and JP Morgan in segregated accounts. If you’re a agency or digital busness owner, IOS or Android dev, Amazon FBA similar who gets paid in multiple currencies from platforms and by clients from different countries, this is a massive advantage because you avoid double conversion, you receive GBP as GBP and EUR as EUR rather than everything being forced through USD first.
Multi-currency World Card powered by Mastercard. You can create up to 20 virtual cards at no extra cost, one for each currency you deal in. When you spend in a currency you already hold a balance in, there’s zero FX fee. So if you have EUR in your account and you buy something from a European website, you pay no conversion fee at all. You can add the World Card to digital wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay where supported. There’s no annual fee on the card.
Zero fees on receiving from supported marketplaces. No monthly fee and no minimum balance requirement to keep the account open.
Direct integration with 130+ global marketplaces and payment gateways including Fiverr, Upwork, Amazon (multiple regions), eBay, Etsy, Shopify Payments, Walmart Marketplace, Stripe, PayPal, Lazada, Shopee, Rakuten, MercadoLibre, Allegro, and many more. If you sell on any major marketplace anywhere in the world, WorldFirst almost certainly integrates with it.
Zero FX fee when spending in any of the 15 supported currencies as long as you’re holding sufficient balance in that currency. This alone can save you hundreds of dollars a year if you regularly spend in multiple currencies on subscriptions, tools, advertising, and other business expenses.
Funds held with tier-one banks like Citibank and JP Morgan, both single-currency and multi-currency versions available, in segregated accounts separate from WorldFirst’s operating funds.
Web and mobile access. You can log in from a browser or use their mobile app, unlike some competitors that are mobile-only.
What’s Missing in WorldFirst For regulatory reasons you can’t receive a payment directly from a random third-party client’s personal or even Business account (as a individual freeelaner). The payment has to route through a supported marketplace like Fiverr, Upwork, Peopleperhour, Freelancer.com, Deel or come from your own linked account. If most of your income comes from direct clients paying you by ACH or wire transfer outside of a marketplace, this is the one real limitation to be aware of before you commit. However, if you are a registered agency or business, this limitation is less restrictive as business-to-business transactions through supported channels are more flexible.
No physical card, only virtual cards for now. If you need ATM access this isn’t the platform for that.
No instant bKash withdrawal. BDT withdrawal to local bank accounts is supported but bKash isn’t the primary flow, and speed can vary depending on the corridor.
Beyond the marketplace-only restriction, the feature set is honestly hard to beat. WorldFirst gives you the kind of financial infrastructure that used to be available only to large businesses, now in a single account for freelancers.
Learn more about WorldFirst account: [Your WorldFirst affiliate link here]
WorldFirst Account Opening: What You Need To open a WorldFirst World Account you’ll need:
Government-issued photo ID (passport or national ID) Proof of address Proof of freelance activity (marketplace profile link, contracts, invoices) You sign up as a freelaner, remote worker, sole proprietor or individual business KYC verification is done at onboarding, entirely online Approval typically takes a few business days Elevate Pay Review: What’s Good and What’s Missing What’s Good About Elevate Pay No verification headache for new funds. Unlike some competitors, Elevate Pay fully verifies your profession right at onboarding. You submit your Fiverr or Upwork profile, contracts, or other proof of freelance work when you sign up, and they verify everything then. This means you don’t get stuck explaining where a payment came from after it’s already arrived and sitting frozen in your account. Verification is typically completed within 24 to 48 hours, sometimes litte more. This is a genuinely important difference from nsave’s approach.
Works with Plaid for secure bank-level account linking. Your banking credentials are never shared directly with Elevate Pay.
Strong default security. Two-factor authentication on login and sensitive operations. Automatic session logout after inactivity. There’s no direct way to change the email on your own from inside the app, which actually protects you from account takeover through social engineering. OTP delivery is fast and stable.
Instant free withdrawal to bKash, usually within a few minutes, and it comes with the government 2.5% remittance incentive applied automatically. This is the fastest way to get your freelance money into your hands in Bangladesh, and it costs you nothing.
Withdrawal to Bangladeshi bank accounts is also supported, with $1.50 fee no matter how big amout you are withdrawing or nominal fees depending on the specific bank.
ACH inbound and outbound from third-party clients outside of marketplaces like Fiverr or Upwork. This is a critical feature. If you have a direct client in the US paying you by ACH, Elevate Pay gives you a US ACH account number (routing number plus account number) that you can share with your client. They send the money via ACH, it lands in your Elevate Pay account, and you withdraw to bKash for free (only 7 BDT cashout per thousand from ATM). WorldFirst doesn’t allow this for individual freelancers, so if direct client payments are a big part of your income, this matters a lot.
FDIC insured through their US banking partner Merchants Commercial Bank, with the standard $250,000 per depositor protection.
Better FX rate compared to Payoneer, Wise, Remitly, Airtm, and Xoom. Elevate Pay applies a margin on the mid-market rate, but this margin is reportedly lower than all of these competitors for BDT conversions.
No monthly or annual service fee. No minimum balance requirement.
Zero fees to create and use business account
Y Combinator W24 batch company, which is a significant validation from one of the world’s top startup accelerators.
What’s Missing in Elevate Pay No virtual USD or dual-currency card yet. This is the biggest gap. If you want to spend your USD directly on online purchases, subscriptions, or SaaS tools without converting to BDT first, Elevate Pay can’t do that. A virtual card is reportedly planned but not launched as of this writing.
No browser or web login, mobile app only. Available on both iOS and Android, but everything from account management to withdrawals has to be done through the mobile app. If you prefer working from a desktop browser, this can be inconvenient.
Can’t share a payment link with a client the way Stripe or PayPal Business lets you. You have to give the client your ACH details manually.
No GBP, EUR, CAD, or AUD account option. USD only. If you regularly get paid in European currencies, this isn’t your primary tool.
No wire transfer support. ACH only for US dollar transfers. (They are working on this feature hopefully will ship soon)
Minor complaint: the UI/UX for both the website and the app just doesn’t feel as polished as nsave’s. It works fine, it’s just not pretty. But function over form, when the money hits your bKash in minutes with zero fees, you stop caring about how the UI looks.
Biometric login isn’t always stable on Android though this could just be a device-specific issue.
Learn more about Elevate Pay account: [Your Elevate Pay affiliate link here]
nsave Review: What’s Good and What’s Missing What’s Good About nsave The UI/UX for both web and mobile is genuinely great. Their website is content-rich with a lot of blog posts ranking on page one of Google, which tells you they have a very high domain rating and are a familiar name across the industry. The app itself is clean, intuitive, and feels modern in a way that Elevate Pay and even WorldFirst don’t quite match.
Dual virtual Visa card that works fine, both in USD and in your local currency (BDT). This is a major advantage over Elevate Pay, which has no card at all. You can use it for online purchases, SaaS subscriptions, advertising spend, and add it to digital wallets.
Two standout features that no other platform on this list offers:
Interest on idle USD funds at around 2 to 4 percent APY (rate fluctuates with market conditions). If you tend to hold a balance in your account rather than withdrawing everything immediately, this earns you passive income on money that would otherwise just sit there doing nothing. No other platform on this list pays you interest.
US stock trading with fractional share support through their Alpaca integration. You can invest in popular US stocks and ETFs directly from the nsave app, with zero commission on trades. Alpaca is FINRA/SEC regulated and a SIPC member with up to $500,000 protection per customer for securities. If you want to invest some of your freelance earnings directly without moving money to a separate brokerage, this is genuinely useful.
I call these two as “sensitive” features for a reason I’ll explain in the “what’s missing” section below.
Free virtual Visa card if you deposit at least $100.
Blockchain support for freelancers who work in the crypto or Web3 industry. You can receive payments via USDC and USDT stablecoins. If you’re a smart contract developer or do work in the DeFi space, this is relevant.
Government 2.5% remittance incentive is applied on withdrawal.
EUR and GBP support with IBAN details and wire transfer. If you have clients in Europe or the UK who prefer to pay in their local currency, nsave can give you IBAN details for receiving EUR and GBP payments directly (has a little fees to get these but ACH is free). This is something Elevate Pay doesn’t offer yet.
bKash withdrawal is supported.
Targets multiple emerging markets including Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, and Nigeria, so the platform has a broader user base and is likely to keep investing in development.
Y Combinator S23 batch company.
No monthly or annual service fee. No minimum balance requirement (but $100 deposit needed for free card).
What’s Missing in nsave The biggest concern is regulatory depth for the interest and investment features. It’s hard to feel fully comfortable holding a large amount of money for interest, or investing it in US stocks, with a company that doesn’t hold at least one top-tier regulatory license like FCA, MAS, or ASIC of its own. nsave uses Alpaca’s API for the stock trading side, and Alpaca itself is regulated, but nsave as the front-end platform holding your balance isn’t sitting on the same regulatory tier as WorldFirst. Keel Money, which provides the underlying financial infrastructure, is FCA regulated in the UK, which gives some assurance, but there’s a meaningful difference between the infrastructure provider being regulated and the platform you’re actually using being regulated.
There’s no FDIC insurance for the USD funds themselves, unlike Elevate Pay which has FDIC coverage through its partner bank. nsave does have a safeguarding system where funds are held in segregated accounts separate from the company’s operating funds, but this is not the same level of protection as FDIC insurance.
Fund holding complaints. There are complaints on Reddit and other forums that nsave holds funds after arrival and asks for additional KYC/AML documents only after a large amount has already landed in the account. This creates delays and frustration, especially when you need immediate access to your money. The better practice, and what Elevate Pay already does, is to collect proper professional documentation at sign-up and verify it then, not ask for proof after a big payment has already arrived. nsave does reply to some Reddit threads but hasn’t fully addressed all concerns raised by users. Some users also report slow customer support response times and account freezes without clear prior warning.
Can’t share a payment link with a client the way Stripe or PayPal Business lets you.
No web or browser login for a personal account. Like Elevate Pay, it’s mobile-only for personal accounts.
Anybody can open an account with just an ID card regardless of their actual profession or intent. This is a double edged sword, easy onboarding but also means the platform has to do more post-signup verification when large amounts arrive, which is exactly what causes the fund holding complaints mentioned above. Elevate Pay and WorldFirst specifically verify your profession at sign-up, which avoids this problem entirely.
No physical card. That’s real money, especially if you’re reinvesting in tools, courses, or saving up.
Which One Should You Actually Pick Pick WorldFirst if: Most of your income comes through Fiverr, Upwork, Amazon, or any of the 130+ supported marketplaces. You deal in more than one currency regularly. You want the strongest possible regulation and your funds held with tier-one banks. You need multiple virtual cards for different currencies. You want web login access. You don’t need instant bKash withdrawal or direct third-party client ACH.
Pick Elevate Pay if: bKash withdrawal speed and simplicity is your number one priority. You have direct US clients who pay via ACH outside of Fiverr or Upwork. You want FDIC insurance on your deposited funds. You value profession verification at onboarding so your funds never get stuck. You primarily work in USD to BDT and don’t need multi-currency support. You don’t mind a mobile-only experience.
Pick nsave if: You want a virtual Visa card to spend your USD directly on subscriptions, tools, and online purchases. You tend to hold a balance and want to earn interest on idle USD. You’re interested in investing in US stocks directly from your freelance earnings. You work in crypto or Web3 and receive payments in USDC. You have European clients who pay in EUR or GBP. You like a polished, modern app experience. Just be aware of the regulatory gap and don’t park a huge amount of money there without understanding the risk.
The Smart Approach: Use Two Platforms Together You don’t actually have to pick only one. A lot of experienced freelancers I know keep two accounts, and this is honestly the smartest approach:
WorldFirst + Elevate Pay: Use WorldFirst to receive marketplace payouts in multiple currencies, hold your funds safely with tier-one banks, and spend with virtual cards. Use Elevate Pay for instant free bKash withdrawal when you need BDT fast, and for receiving ACH payments from direct US clients. Move money between them as needed.
WorldFirst + nsave: Use WorldFirst for receiving and security, nsave for USD spending card and earning interest on the portion of your balance you don’t need immediately.
Elevate Pay + nsave: Use Elevate Pay for receiving and fast bKash withdrawal, nsave for the virtual Visa card and interest earning. This combination works if most of your income comes through marketplaces and you don’t need 15+ currencies.
The key principle is: receive through the platform with the best integration for your income source, hold in the platform with the best security, spend through the platform with the best card, and withdraw through the platform with the fastest BDT access.
Frequently Asked Questions Is Payoneer still worth using in 2026?
Payoneer still works fine if you’re only ever moving money Payoneer to Payoneer (has cost for foreign outbound country), but the moment you step outside that lane the fees and exchange rate markup start costing you real money. The $29.95 annual card fee, the 1 to 2 percent FX markup, the up to 3.2% receiving fee from non-Payoneer sources, all of it adds up. Most freelancers now use it as a backup, not their main account. If you’re already on Payoneer and comfortable, you don’t need to switch overnight, but you should at least open one of these three accounts and compare the rate yourself on your next withdrawal.
Can I still use Wise in Bangladesh?
You can send BDT out through Wise, but as of 2026 you cannot open a full multi-currency account, get a Wise card, or receive USD account details as a Bangladeshi resident. For receiving Fiverr or Upwork payments, Wise is no longer a practical option here. If you have a friend or family member abroad who needs to send you money, Wise is still good for that specific direction of transfer.
Which platform has the best exchange rate for freelancers in Bangladesh?
nsave and Elevate Pay generally quote a better FX rate than Payoneer, Wise, Remitly, Airtm, and Xoom for BDT conversions. WorldFirst’s rate is also very competitive, especially for larger amounts where they offer tighter spreads. Always check the live rate at the time of withdrawal since these change daily. The 2.5% government remittance incentive (applied automatically by Elevate Pay and nsave) also makes a meaningful difference.
Is nsave safe to use for large amounts?
nsave is a Y Combinator backed company and does use FCA-regulated infrastructure through Keel Money, but it does not hold a top-tier license of its own the way WorldFirst does. There’s also no FDIC insurance like Elevate Pay offers. Many freelancers use it for day-to-day USD spending and the virtual card, and keep larger long-term holdings in a more heavily regulated account like WorldFirst, But for working capital and spending, it’s fine.
Can I receive PayPal payments in Bangladesh?
PayPal has very limited functionality in Bangladesh, mostly for sending, not receiving. For practical purposes, PayPal is not an option for receiving freelance payments as a Bangladeshi resident. This is exactly why platforms like WorldFirst, Elevate Pay, and nsave exist.
What is an ERQ account and should I get one?
ERQ (Exporters’ Retention Quota) is a Bangladesh Bank provision that lets IT/ITES exporters retain 30 to 50 percent of their foreign earnings in a USD account at their local bank. In theory this is useful for spending in USD without conversion. In practice, the bank-level implementation is often terrible, with high annual fees, transaction fees, unfamiliar branch staff, and heavy paperwork. If your bank makes it easy and cheap, go for it. But for most freelancers, a WorldFirst World Card or nsave Visa card is a much simpler way to spend in USD directly.
Do I need to pay tax on my freelance income in Bangladesh?
As of 2026, IT and ITES export income is fully tax exempt in Bangladesh until June 2027 (FY 2026-27). You should still get a TIN and file your returns even if the income is exempt, because you’ll need the TIN for banking and large transactions anyway. Consult with a tax professional for your specific situation.
Watch and Read More on This Topic YouTube, Reddit, Google play and Apple App store reviews and walkthroughs:
Search YouTube, Reddit and Google for: “WorldFirst World Account review Bangladesh” or “Elevate Pay bKash withdrawal review” or “nsave virtual card review Bangladesh”
Official platform pages:
WorldFirst World Account: https://worldfirst.com Elevate Pay: https://elevatepay.co nsave: https://nsave.com Related Articles You Should Read Building a Website for Only $10.88 a Year Why You Should Become an Indie Hacker in 2026 Last Updated: September 29, 2026 | Reading Time: 22 minutes | Share this if it helps you pick the right payment gateway for your freelance income!

https://anidsiam.github.io/blogs/best-payment-gateway-for-freelancers/

What “Best Payment Gateway” Actually Means for a Freelancer

If you are a freelancer in Bangladesh, Pakistan, and other Southest Asian country you already know the real work doesn’t end when you deliver the project. Brain Computer Interface technology is already here and it’s changing everything. Companies like Neuralink, Synchron, and dozens of startups are already implanting chips in human brains and helping paralyzed people move robotic arms, type messages, and control computers using only their thoughts.
A Brain Computer Interface is basically a system that reads your brain signals and converts them into commands that external devices can understand. Think about it this way, when you want to move your hand your brain sends electrical signals through your nervous system. BCI technology can intercept those signals even if your body can’t physically move and send them to a computer or robotic limb instead. The crazy part is this technology is not experimental anymore it’s real and working in actual human patients right now in 2026.
There are so much hype around this field because we are at the point where what used to be impossible is now becoming possible. Paralyzed people are playing video games with their mind. Blind people might get partial vision restored. People with ALS who can’t speak are typing full sentences. This is not future tech this is happening today.
How Brain Computer Interface Works: The Technical Side Made Simple The basic idea behind all Brain Computer Interfaces is the same. You record brain signals, you decode what those signals mean, then you use that information to control something external. Sounds simple but the reality is way more complicated.
Your brain has around 86 billion neurons and these neurons communicate with each other using electrical impulses. Every time you think, move, see, or feel something specific patterns of neurons fire in specific ways. BCI technology is about capturing those electrical patterns and figuring out what they mean.
Two Main Types of Brain Computer Interface Systems Invasive BCI (Inside the Brain):
These require surgery to place electrodes directly on or inside your brain tissue. The advantage is you get much clearer signals because there’s no skull blocking the electrical activity. Companies like Neuralink and Blackrock Neurotech use this approach. Neuralink’s device has 1,024 ultra-thin electrode threads that go deep into the brain’s motor cortex. The signals are super clear and you can decode very precise movements.
The downside is obvious you need brain surgery. There are risks like infection, scar tissue formation, and the electrodes can degrade over time. But for people who are completely paralyzed and have no other options the benefits outweigh the risks.
Non-Invasive BCI (Outside the Brain):
These use sensors placed on your scalp to measure brain activity through your skull. The most common method is EEG (electroencephalography) which uses a cap with electrodes that detect electrical signals from the brain. The advantage is no surgery needed and it’s way safer. The downside is the signals are much weaker and noisier because the skull blocks a lot of the electrical activity.
Non-invasive BCIs are great for things like controlling a cursor on a screen, playing simple games, or meditation apps. But they’re not precise enough yet for complex tasks like controlling a robotic arm with fine motor movements. Although research in 2026 is improving this fast with better AI algorithms.
The Three Main Components of Every BCI System 1. Signal Acquisition (Recording Brain Activity):
This is where electrodes either on the scalp or in the brain capture the electrical signals from neurons firing. For invasive BCIs like Neuralink they use tiny needle-like electrodes. For non-invasive systems they use gel-based electrodes in a cap.
2. Signal Processing and Decoding (Understanding What the Brain Wants):
Raw brain signals are messy and noisy. You need AI and machine learning algorithms to clean up the data and figure out what the person is trying to do. For example if someone thinks about moving their right hand certain neurons in the motor cortex fire in a specific pattern. The AI learns to recognize that pattern and translates it into “move cursor right” or “close robotic hand.”
This is where companies are competing hard. Better AI means better decoding which means smoother control. Neuralink uses advanced neural networks trained on millions of neural recordings. The more data they collect the better the system gets at predicting intent.
3. Output Device (Doing the Action):
This is the thing that actually does what your brain wanted to do. It could be a cursor on a computer screen, a robotic arm, a wheelchair, a text-to-speech system, or even stimulation back into the brain to create artificial sensations.
The whole system creates a loop: Brain → Record signals → Decode intent → Execute action. Some advanced BCIs even have feedback where the device sends signals back to the brain so you can “feel” what the robotic arm is touching. This is called bidirectional BCI and it’s the cutting edge of the field right now.
Neuralink: The Most Famous Brain Computer Interface Company Neuralink is probably the BCI company everyone knows because of Elon Musk. The company was founded in 2016 and got FDA approval for human trials in May 2023. As of 2026 they have implanted their device called “The Link” in around 12 human patients and planning to ramp up to high-volume production this year.
How Neuralink’s Brain Chip Actually Works The Link is about the size of a coin roughly 23mm in diameter and 8mm thick. It sits flush with your skull so once your hair grows back you can’t even tell it’s there. The device has 64 ultra-thin threads and each thread has multiple electrodes for a total of 1,024 recording channels. Compare that to older BCIs which had maybe 100 channels. More channels mean more data which means better control.
The threads are thinner than a human hair around 4 to 6 micrometers wide. They’re flexible so they move with the brain tissue instead of damaging it. A surgical robot called the R1 implants these threads into the motor cortex with sub-millimeter precision. The robot has built-in cameras and uses optical coherence tomography to image the brain and avoid blood vessels during insertion.
Once implanted the chip records neural activity and wirelessly transmits the data via Bluetooth to an external device. Older BCIs needed wires coming out of your skull. Neuralink is completely wireless. The device is charged wirelessly too through induction similar to wireless phone chargers.
The whole system is designed to be long-term. Elon Musk said in the future people might upgrade their chips like you upgrade your phone. Right now the FDA approved trial is for 5 years to test long-term safety and durability.
Neuralink’s First Human Patient: Noland Arbaugh’s Story The first person to get a Neuralink implant was Noland Arbaugh a 29-year-old quadriplegic. He was paralyzed from the shoulders down after a diving accident that dislocated his C4 and C5 vertebrae. In January 2024 he got the implant and within weeks he was controlling a computer cursor with his thoughts.
Noland has used Neuralink to play chess online, browse the internet, play video games, and communicate with friends. In interviews he said “I was not expecting it to be as good as it is. I think there were moments when I realized like ‘Oh this is a much bigger deal than I thought it was.’”
There were some early issues. Some of the electrode threads retracted from his brain tissue reducing the number of active channels from 1,024 to around 800. Neuralink fixed this with software updates that improved the sensitivity of the remaining electrodes. The system is still working well over a year later.
As of September 2025 Neuralink had implanted 12 total patients and there’s a waiting list of over 10,000 people who want to participate in the trials. Elon Musk posted on X (formerly Twitter) on December 31, 2025 that “Neuralink will start high-volume production of brain-computer interface devices and move to a streamlined almost entirely automated surgical procedure in 2026.”
The automated surgery is a big deal. Previously the surgery required manually removing part of the dura (the protective membrane around the brain) which increased infection risk. The new procedure allows threads to go through the dura without removing it which makes the surgery faster safer and more scalable.
Watch Noland Arbaugh’s Demo:
Search YouTube for: “Neuralink first patient Noland Arbaugh demonstration”
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=neuralink+noland+arbaugh+demonstration
What Neuralink is Planning for the Future Elon Musk has big claims about where this technology is heading. In the short term (2026-2027) Neuralink is focusing on helping paralyzed people communicate and control devices. The FDA approved trial is specifically for quadriplegics and people with ALS who have lost the ability to move and speak.
The next major product Neuralink is working on is called Blindsight. This is designed to restore partial vision to completely blind people even those who were born blind. The way it works is a camera mounted on glasses captures video and sends it wirelessly to a chip implanted in the visual cortex (the part of the brain that processes sight). The chip electrically stimulates neurons to create the perception of vision bypassing the eyes completely.
Musk said the first versions will have very low resolution like early video game graphics. But over time as the technology improves the resolution should get better. Some neuroscientists are skeptical and think Musk is overpromising on the quality. But if it works even at low resolution it would be life-changing for millions of blind people worldwide.
Long-term Musk talks about even wilder stuff. He’s said Neuralink could eventually be used for memory enhancement, treating depression and PTSD, controlling smart home devices with your mind, and even “telepathy” between people with Neuralink implants. Most scientists think we’re decades away from that kind of stuff but the basic building blocks are being developed now.
Other Brain Computer Interface Companies You Should Know Neuralink gets all the attention but they’re not alone in this field. There are several other companies making serious progress and some are ahead of Neuralink in certain areas.
Synchron: The First to Market with FDA Approval Synchron is Neuralink’s biggest competitor and they’re actually ahead in some ways. They got FDA approval before Neuralink and have already implanted their BCI device called Stentrode in around 10 patients as of 2026.
The big difference with Synchron is they don’t need open brain surgery. Their device is inserted through blood vessels in a procedure similar to placing a stent in your heart. A catheter goes up through a vein in your neck and delivers the Stentrode into a blood vessel on the surface of the brain near the motor cortex. The device has 16 electrodes that pick up brain signals through the blood vessel wall.
This is way less invasive than Neuralink’s approach. No skull removal, no robots, just a minimally invasive procedure. The trade-off is lower signal quality because the electrodes aren’t directly in the brain tissue. But for many applications it’s good enough.
Synchron’s patients have used the device to text, send emails, shop online, and control smart home devices. The company is running clinical trials in the US and Australia.
Learn more: https://synchron.com/
Blackrock Neurotech: The Pioneer with 20 Years of Experience Blackrock Neurotech has been working on BCIs for over 20 years way before Neuralink existed. They developed the Utah Array which is one of the most widely used research BCI implants. It has 100 electrodes on a tiny silicon chip that gets inserted into the brain.
Blackrock’s technology has been used in research labs around the world and helped paralyzed patients control robotic arms with incredible precision. One famous study showed a paralyzed woman using a Blackrock BCI to control a robotic arm to drink a coffee by herself for the first time in years.
The challenge for Blackrock is they haven’t gotten full FDA approval for commercial use yet. They’re still in the clinical trial phase. But with their long track record they’re likely to get approval eventually.
Learn more: https://blackrockneurotech.com/
Other BCI Startups to Watch in 2026 Paradromics: Building high-bandwidth BCIs with even more electrodes than Neuralink. Their goal is to enable fast typing and communication.
Kernel: Developing non-invasive BCI headsets using advanced sensors. They’re targeting mental health and cognitive enhancement applications.
CTRL-Labs (Owned by Meta/Facebook): Working on wristbands that read neural signals from your arm to control AR/VR devices. Not brain implants but related neural interface technology.
BrainCo: Making EEG headbands for education, meditation, and focus training. Consumer-level non-invasive BCI.
Emotiv: Non-invasive EEG headsets for gaming, research, and health monitoring.
Check this list of BCI startups: https://www.seedtable.com/best-brain-computer-interface-startups
Brain Computer Interface Applications: What Can BCIs Actually Do in 2026 The most proven use case for BCIs right now is helping paralyzed people regain some independence. But the potential applications go way beyond that.
Medical and Healthcare Applications Restoring Communication for ALS Patients:
People with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) progressively lose the ability to move and speak. In late-stage ALS they can become completely locked-in meaning they’re fully conscious but can’t move or communicate at all. BCIs give them a way to type messages using only their thoughts.
A study in 2025 showed an ALS patient using a BCI spelling system at home for over 2 years. He communicated more than 237,000 words controlled his home computer and worked full-time all through brain signals. This is the kind of application that’s already working and improving lives today.
Motor Function Restoration for Spinal Cord Injury:
Spinal cord injuries disconnect the brain from the body. The brain is still sending movement commands but the signals can’t get past the injury. BCIs can bridge this gap.
Researchers have demonstrated paralyzed patients using BCIs to control robotic exoskeletons that let them walk again. Others have used BCIs to control their own paralyzed limbs through electrical stimulation of the muscles below the injury. The BCI reads the brain’s intent and triggers the muscles directly bypassing the damaged spinal cord.
Stroke Rehabilitation and Recovery:
After a stroke many patients lose motor function on one side of their body. BCIs are being used in rehabilitation to help retrain the brain. The patient tries to move their paralyzed limb while the BCI provides feedback showing when their brain is firing the right neurons. Over time this can help rewire the brain and restore some function.
Studies in 2026 show that BCI-based rehabilitation combined with physical therapy leads to better recovery outcomes than physical therapy alone.
Seizure Prediction and Control for Epilepsy:
BCIs can monitor brain activity 24/7 and detect patterns that predict seizures before they happen. Some systems can even deliver electrical stimulation to prevent the seizure from occurring. This is a form of closed-loop BCI where the system both reads and writes to the brain.
Vision Restoration for Blind Patients:
As mentioned Neuralink’s Blindsight and similar projects aim to restore partial vision by stimulating the visual cortex directly. Early trials are just beginning in 2026 but if successful this could help millions of people worldwide who are blind due to damaged eyes or optic nerves.
Mental Health Treatment:
Some BCIs are being tested for treating depression, PTSD, and other mental health conditions. The idea is to use neurofeedback where patients learn to control their brain activity patterns to reduce symptoms. It’s early-stage but showing promise.
Beyond Medicine: Consumer and Enhancement Applications Right now all FDA-approved BCIs are for medical use only. But there’s growing interest in consumer applications for healthy people.
Gaming and Entertainment:
Non-invasive EEG headsets are already being used for gaming. You can control game characters or menus with your thoughts. It’s not as precise as a mouse and keyboard but it adds a new dimension to gameplay.
Companies like Emotiv and BrainCo sell consumer BCI headsets for under $300. You can use them to play focus-based games, control drones, or even compose music by thinking.
Meditation and Mental Wellness:
Several apps use EEG headsets to measure your brain waves during meditation and give you feedback on your mental state. They can tell when you’re focused, relaxed, or distracted and help you train your attention.
Cognitive Enhancement and Focus Training:
There’s research into using BCIs for attention training, memory improvement, and learning acceleration. The idea is neurofeedback can help you optimize your brain state for peak performance. Athletes, students, and professionals are experimenting with this.
Communication Without Speaking:
Imagine typing messages or searching the web just by thinking. Facebook (Meta) was working on technology to let you type 100 words per minute using only your thoughts. They shelved the project but the concept is still being explored by other companies.
Controlling Smart Home and IoT Devices:
Why reach for your phone to turn off the lights when you could just think about it? BCIs could eventually interface with all your smart devices. This is years away for consumers but the technology is being developed.
Human Augmentation and Transhumanism:
This is the far-future stuff that Elon Musk talks about. The idea that BCIs could enhance normal human capabilities giving you better memory, faster thinking, or even direct brain-to-brain communication. Most scientists think we’re 20-50 years away from this but it’s where some people believe the technology is ultimately heading.
BCI Technology Challenges: What’s Holding Us Back Brain Computer Interfaces are incredible but they still have major limitations in 2026. Here are the biggest challenges the field is facing.
Signal Quality and Noise Brain signals are incredibly weak and noisy. Electrical activity from muscles, eye movements, and even your heartbeat can interfere with the brain signals. Invasive BCIs have better signal quality but even they deal with noise.
The brain also changes over time. Neurons can shift, electrodes can degrade, and scar tissue can form around implants. This means a BCI that works perfectly on day 1 might perform worse a year later. Companies are working on more stable electrodes and better AI algorithms that can adapt to these changes.
Surgical Risks and Safety Any invasive BCI requires brain surgery which carries risks. Infection, bleeding, and damage to brain tissue are all possible. Long-term effects of having foreign objects in the brain for years or decades are still unknown.
The FDA is very cautious about approving these devices which is why the trials are moving slowly. Safety has to come first. Even with Neuralink’s first patients there were issues with thread retraction that needed to be addressed.
Long-Term Durability Will a BCI implant last 5 years? 10 years? 50 years? We don’t know yet because the technology is too new. Replacing a failed brain implant requires another surgery which is risky and expensive.
Companies are testing new materials and designs to make implants more durable. Some are looking at dissolvable electrodes that wouldn’t need to be removed. Others are working on self-repairing electrode coatings.
Decoding Accuracy and Speed Current BCIs can decode simple commands pretty well like “move cursor left” or “click.” But complex fine motor control is still difficult. Typing with your thoughts is possible but it’s slow compared to typing with your fingers.
The best BCI typing systems in 2026 can achieve maybe 30-40 words per minute in ideal conditions. That’s way slower than the 60-80 words per minute most people type with a keyboard. And it requires intense concentration.
AI is improving decoding accuracy every year but we’re still not at the point where BCIs feel as natural and effortless as using your own body.
Cost and Accessibility Right now BCIs are extremely expensive. The surgery, the device, the follow-up care it all adds up to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Insurance doesn’t cover it yet because the devices aren’t FDA approved for commercial use.
Neuralink says they want to eventually make the procedure cost around $10,000-20,000 similar to LASIK eye surgery. But we’re not there yet. For BCIs to help the millions of paralyzed and neurologically impaired people worldwide the cost needs to come way down.
Ethical and Privacy Concerns Your brain activity is the most private information possible. What happens if someone hacks your BCI? Could they read your thoughts? Could they send false signals to your brain?
There are also concerns about consent, autonomy, and who owns your neural data. If your BCI is constantly recording your brain activity where is that data stored? Who has access to it? Can advertisers or governments buy it?
In September 2025 U.S. Senators proposed the MIND Act to regulate BCIs and protect neural privacy. But regulation is lagging way behind the technology. This is something society needs to figure out fast as BCIs become more widespread.
The Future of Brain Computer Interface: What’s Coming Next The BCI field is moving fast. Here’s what we can expect to see in the next few years.
2026-2027: Expanded Medical Trials More companies will get FDA approval for human trials. We’ll see BCIs tested on more conditions beyond just paralysis. Mental health, chronic pain, memory disorders, and sensory restoration will all be explored.
Neuralink’s high-volume production means hundreds of patients will get implants in the next few years. The data from these trials will dramatically improve our understanding of how BCIs work long-term.
2028-2030: First Commercial Approvals If the trials go well we’ll likely see the first FDA approvals for commercial BCI use. This means doctors could prescribe BCIs to patients just like they prescribe pacemakers or cochlear implants today.
Insurance companies will start covering the cost which will make BCIs accessible to more people. We might see specialized BCI clinics open up in major cities.
2030-2035: Consumer BCIs Hit the Market Non-invasive consumer BCIs will get better and cheaper. We might see VR headsets with built-in EEG sensors that let you control games with your thoughts. Smart home integration could become standard.
Some futurists predict the first “elective” brain implants for healthy people who want cognitive enhancement. This is controversial and will probably face heavy regulation but the technology will be there.
2035+: The Truly Wild Stuff Brain-to-brain communication, memory uploads, direct knowledge transfer this is all science fiction today but might be real in a few decades. Elon Musk talks about “AI-human symbiosis” where BCIs allow humans to keep up with artificial intelligence.
Most neuroscientists are skeptical of these claims and think they’re 50+ years away if they’re even possible at all. But if there’s one thing the history of technology teaches us it’s that the impossible becomes possible faster than anyone expects.
Learning Resources and Videos About Brain Computer Interface If you want to dive deeper into BCI technology here are some great resources:
YouTube Videos to Watch Neuralink’s Official Demo and Updates:
Search YouTube: “Neuralink show and tell” or “Neuralink patient demonstration”
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=neuralink+demonstration
Noland Arbaugh Interview:
The first Neuralink patient explaining his experience.
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=noland+arbaugh+interview
TED Talks on BCIs:
Search: “brain computer interface TED talk”
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=brain+computer+interface+ted
How BCIs Work - Technical Explanations:
Search: “how brain computer interfaces work” or “BCI explained”
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=brain+computer+interface+explained
Articles and Research Papers Latest BCI News:
IEEE Spectrum: https://spectrum.ieee.org/ (search for “brain computer interface”)
MIT Technology Review: https://www.technologyreview.com/ (search for “BCI” or “Neuralink”)
Scientific Papers:
Search Google Scholar: https://scholar.google.com/
Keywords: “brain-computer interface 2026” or “BCI clinical trials”
Industry Reports:
CB Insights has reports on BCI startups and market trends: https://www.cbinsights.com/
Podcasts About BCIs Search podcast apps for:
“Neuralink podcast” “Brain computer interface interview” “Future of neurotechnology” Popular tech podcasts like Lex Fridman and Joe Rogan have interviewed BCI researchers and Neuralink scientists.
Courses and Online Learning Free Courses:
Coursera has courses on neuroscience and BCI fundamentals
YouTube University - search for “BCI tutorial” or “neuroscience basics”
Academic Resources:
NIH has a database of BCI research: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/ (search “brain-computer interface”)
Many universities publish BCI research openly online
Conclusion: Brain Computer Interface is Here and It’s Real Brain Computer Interfaces are not science fiction anymore. They’re real working technology that’s already changing lives for paralyzed and neurologically impaired people. In 2026 we’re at a turning point where BCIs are moving from research labs into clinical use and getting closer to mainstream adoption.
Companies like Neuralink, Synchron, and Blackrock are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. The technology still has limitations around safety, cost, and performance but it’s improving fast. Every year the signals get clearer, the decoding gets smarter, and the applications expand.
The next decade will be critical. We’ll see if BCIs can truly deliver on their promise to restore movement communication and independence to millions of people with disabilities. We’ll also start to grapple with the ethical questions around enhancement privacy and what it means to merge our brains with technology.
If you’re a developer, neuroscientist, or just someone interested in the future this is the field to watch. Brain Computer Interfaces are going to change how humans interact with technology and maybe even how we think about what it means to be human.
The brain-computer revolution has already started. The question is not if BCIs will change the world but how fast and how far the technology will go.
Stay curious, keep learning, and maybe one day you’ll be using a BCI yourself.
Last Updated: January 12, 2026 | Reading Time: 25 minutes | Share this guide if you learned something new about Brain Computer Interfaces!

https://anidsiam.github.io/blogs/brain-computer-interface-guide-2026/

What is Brain Computer Interface (BCI) and Why Everyone is Talking About It

If you think connecting your brain directly to a computer sounds like science fiction then you are somewhat behind the reality of 2026. Brain Computer Interface technology is already here and it’s changing everything. Companies like Neuralink, Synchron, and dozens of startups are already implanting chips in human brains and helping paralyzed people move robotic arms, type messages, and control computers using only their thoughts.

Brain Computer Interface (BCI): Complete Guide to How It Works, Companies, and Future in 2026
If you are someone who wants to make your personal website or Blog website, how to make money with static website, how to to get monetization in static website, add affiliate links, put sponsors and how to make money with static website, You can make it easily with all free and great resources, the only cost is to register a custom domain name. Of course there are some limitations: your site would not be a dynamic site, it will be a static site, So if it’s not a big or commercial need or SaaS then you can get an easy and secure site after reading this article. There are two ways to do that one is writing manual HTML and CSS code another is using SSG (static site generator).
Prerequisite In both ways you need little knowledge about HTML, CSS and Markdown (.md) file format, knowledge about IDE (Integrated Development Environment) Code editor like VS Code or Cursor. And to handle directory or folders, files, and version controllers (Git) and Code Drive in cloud like Gitlab or Github to deploy in the free hosting provider and maintain the version. If you want to go with an SSG (static site generator) like Hugo, Jekyll or Astro they have so many built in themes already all you need to so is Installing an SSG in your desktop and select a theme from your SSG’s themes showcase which one looks perfect for the kind of site you are willing to make. These SSG can be used on Windows, MacOS, and Linux desktop. These are repository based and easy to use with CLI (Commend line interface).
Making custom coded site even if you are beginner Another way is writing HTML and CSS code manually. If you can write that is very good. You can use AI tools like Claude or Copilot. Claude or Copilot write your HTML and CSS code for your Static website you can customize then, You just need to prompt smartly. You can use any LLM models for that but I found Claude is better for coding related stuff. They will give you the code and you need to copy and paste in the Visual Studio Code to test how they look by using localhost. You can also prompt, generate and fix code inside VS Code or Cursor by expanding direct chatting options by selecting file, you can also select the LLM model you like there.
The Technical Foundation: Static Site Architecture The shift to static sites is driven by the realization that dynamic systems, which render pages on-the-fly using a server-side database, are inherently slower and more vulnerable to attack. A static site consists of pre-rendered HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files served directly to the user. This architecture eliminates the database attack vector entirely and allows for near-instantaneous page loads. Static Site Generators Static Site Generators (SSGs) such as Hugo, Jekyll, and Astro have become the industry standard for high-performance publishing. Hugo, built in the Go language, is recognized as the fastest framework in its class, capable of building thousands of pages in milliseconds. Jekyll, conversely, remains a popular choice for documentation and simple portfolios due to its native integration with GitHub Pages. But if you want to make a blog to monetize ad-sense, sponsor as it will grow Hugo is suggested.
The architectural choice between manual HTML/CSS/JS and an SSG depends on the project’s scale. Manual coding offers total control but becomes unmanageable as the content grows. SSGs utilize Markdown (.md) for content, separating the data from the presentation layer through templates and layouts.
Hugo Static Site Generator: The Fastest Way to Build Websites Now suppose you want to go with Hugo. Because its most popular and powerful. The first step is to install Hugo on your desktop. Do it from (https://gohugo.io/installation/). Then use commend line to Create your site Directory/Folder:
hugo new site my-awesome-site cd my-awesome-site After creating the site directory you need to initialize Git for version control:
git init How to Install Git on Different Operating Systems To install Git, the commands vary by operating system. In Linux/macOS terminals, installation typically involves a single command using a package manager, while Windows generally uses a standalone installer.
Verifying Git Installation Before installing, you can check if Git is already present by opening your terminal or command prompt and running:
git --version If Git is installed, the version number will be displayed. Otherwise, follow the instructions for your specific OS below.
Installation Commands by Operating System Operating System Installation Method/Command Windows Download the official installer from the Git website and run the executable file, accepting most default settings. Alternatively, use the winget tool or Chocolatey package manager. macOS Command Line Tools: Open your terminal and run xcode-select --install to install Git along with Xcode Command Line Tools. Homebrew: If you use Homebrew, run brew install git in the terminal. Linux (Debian/Ubuntu) Update your package index and install Git using apt: sudo apt update followed by sudo apt install git. For the latest version, you can add the PPA first: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:git-core/ppa. Linux (Fedora) Use the dnf package manager: sudo dnf install git. Linux (CentOS/RHEL) Use the yum package manager: sudo yum install git. ChromeOS Enable the built-in Linux environment in settings, then use the Linux commands for Debian/Ubuntu above. After installation, it is recommended to restart your terminal and verify the installation with git --version.
Choosing and Installing Hugo Themes (PaperMod Tutorial) Now pick a theme from Hugo themes showcase (https://themes.gohugo.io/). Let’s say you picked PaperMod theme which is clean and perfect for blogs. You can choose others available theme from theme section and will get install documentation there. Install PaperMod as a Git sub-module:
git submodule add --depth=1 https://github.com/adityatelange/hugo-PaperMod.git themes/PaperMod Then you need to configure your site. Open the hugo.toml or config.toml file in your code editor and add the theme:
baseURL = 'https://yoursite.com/' languageCode = 'en-us' title = 'My Awesome Blog' theme = 'PaperMod' Creating Your First Blog Post with Markdown Create your first blog post using this command:
hugo new posts/my-first-post.md This will create a markdown file in the content/posts folder. Open it and start writing your content. The file will look something like this at the top:
+++ title = "My First Post" date = "2025-01-15T10:00:00Z" draft = true +++ Your content goes here... Local Preview with Hugo Server To preview your site locally before deploying use this command:
hugo server -D The -D flag means it will show draft posts too. Your site will be available at http://localhost:1313. You can see changes in real time as you edit your files.
When you’re ready to build your site for production run:
hugo This creates a public folder with all your static files ready to deploy.
Free Static Site Hosting Options: Netlify vs GitHub Pages vs Cloudflare vs Vercel There are multiple free hosting options and all of them are great. I recommend to use Netlify. Its widely recognize best options and no restriction for ad sense, affiliate marketing and sponsored content.
Here is how to use them:
GitHub Pages: Free Website Hosting Tutorial Push your code to GitHub repository then go to repository Settings > Pages > Select branch (usually main) > Save. Your site will be live at username.github.io/repository-name. For custom domain add a CNAME file in your repository or configure it in GitHub Pages settings.
Basic GitHub commands to push your code:
git add . git commit -m "Initial commit" git branch -M main git remote add origin https://github.com/yourusername/your-repo.git git push -u origin main Learn Git basics here: https://git-scm.com/doc
GitHub Pages Video Tutorial:
Search on YouTube: “GitHub Pages deployment tutorial 2026”
Netlify Free Hosting, Pro Free Host This is super easy. Netlify gives you a custom subdomain and you can add your own domain for free.
Netlify Deployment Video Tutorial:
Search on YouTube: “Hugo Netlify deployment tutorial” or “Netlify free hosting 2026”
Cloudflare Pages: Fast CDN Hosting for Static Sites Similar to Netlify. Go to Cloudflare Pages (https://pages.cloudflare.com/) > Sign up > Create a project > Connect your GitHub > Select repository > Configure build (Build command: hugo, Output directory: public) > Deploy. Cloudflare is known for its fast CDN and great performance.
Vercel Free Hosting: Best for Next.js and React Projects Vercel is also super good option for free hosting. Go to Vercel (https://vercel.com/) and sign up with your GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket account. Click “Add New” > “Project” > Import your repository > Vercel auto-detects framework (for Hugo: Build command: hugo, Output directory: public) > Deploy. That’s it! Vercel gives you instant deployment with zero configuration. The best part about Vercel is if you’re building with Next.js, React, or any modern JavaScript framework they have built-in support and optimization. Vercel is made by the creators of Next.js so it’s the fastest option for React-based static sites and server-side rendered applications. You can also add your custom domain for free and they provide automatic SSL certificates. Vercel is perfect for developers who want advanced features like preview deployments, edge functions, and analytics without paying anything.
When to Choose Vercel:
You’re using Next.js, React, Vue, or Svelte frameworks You need serverless functions alongside your static site You want automatic preview URLs for every git push You’re building interactive web apps not just blogs Search on YouTube: “Vercel deployment tutorial” or “Deploy Next.js to Vercel free” [Please note Vercel free version is not recommended if your goal is monetization, affiliate and other way of making money as it is strict to commercial use]
Cheapest Domain Registration: Where to Buy Domains in 2026 Now the only cost part. You need a domain name to make your site look professional. I found Dynadot (https://www.dynadot.com/), Spaceship (https://www.spaceship.com) and Cloudflare (https://www.cloudflare.com/) offer great deals. A .com domain costs around 10-11 dollars per year.
The reason I select Spaceship, Dynadot and Cloudflare is they charge the same amount for renew every year as registration cost. Specially, Spaceship cost only $9.88 which is cheapest among the market for a .com domain and it’s also true for other TLD’s.
Dynadot: Best Value Domain with Free Email Hosting I recommend Dynadot, It will cost you only $10.88 every year with no increase and best part is you will get free hosting for your custom email under your domain with 1GB storage and Free hosting for one page static website with your domain. As long as you keep your domain with them and renew every year these email and website hosting is free forever, this kind of lucrative and great. Which other provider don’t provide.
You can use your custom email through Thunderbird and its includes one email address and email forwarding with gmail and outlook, which you can leverage for this purpose. And at least one custom email like (contact@yourdomain.com) for a website is absolute need. You can use it without extra hosting cost with Dynadot.
Cloudflare Domain with Email Routing You can also choose Cloudflare, its also a good option. But Cloudflare don’t offer email hosting like Dynadot instead they offer email routing service which can received email to your gmail or outlook email but it’s not good to send email from your custom address.
Spaceship For spaceship they have dedicated email hosting service called space mail which is paid you can buy it as bundle with domain or hosting. But for this blog our goal is to Keep the cost maximum 11 a year. So, the solution is if you buy your domain from Spaceship you will use Zoho mail free version. It will allow to use Custom mail with their free forever plan. Its encrypted and secure. You need to use Zoho main app available in app store, play store and in desktop app.You can opt for the free custom email address plan, which includes 5GB for each user and email hosting for a single domain.
DNS Configuration for Custom Domain After buying domain you need to configure DNS settings. If you’re using Cloudflare Pages they will guide you to change name servers. For Netlify or GitHub Pages you need to add A records or CNAME records. Check your provider’s documentation for exact steps. No database means no database attacks. No server-side code means faster loading times. And the best part? The only ongoing cost is your domain renewal which is around 10-11 dollars per year. Everything else is completely free.
Performance Benefits Static sites load in milliseconds because they’re just HTML files served from a CDN. Dynamic sites need to query databases and run server code for every request. Google loves fast sites and ranks them higher.
Security Advantages No backend code means hackers can’t inject SQL or exploit server vulnerabilities. Your site is just files on a CDN. The attack surface is minimal.
Cost Savings Free hosting + $10.88 domain = Total cost. Compare that to $5-50/month for traditional hosting plus domain fees. Over a year that’s $60-600 saved.
Take Action: Build Your First Static Website Today Start small, learn as you go, and don’t be afraid to break things. The quantum computer price in 2026 ranges from surprisingly affordable $5,000 educational desktop systems all the way up to mind-blowing $100 million+ industrial-grade superconducting quantum computers. This is not science fiction anymore these machines exist and people are buying them right now.
The crazy part is the quantum computing market has exploded in the last few years. Companies like IBM, Google, D-Wave, SpinQ, and IonQ are all competing hard to make quantum computers more powerful and more accessible. And just like how regular computers went from room-filling million-dollar mainframes in the 1960s to $500 laptops today the same thing is happening with quantum computers but we’re still in the very early days.
There are so much confusion around quantum computer prices because people don’t realize there are completely different types of quantum computers for completely different purposes. A 2-qubit educational quantum computer for teaching students costs around $5,000. A mid-range research quantum computer with 10-50 qubits costs around $500,000 to $2 million. And a cutting-edge 100+ qubit superconducting quantum computer for enterprise and government use costs $10 million to over $100 million.
Most people will never buy a quantum computer they’ll just use Quantum as a Service (QaaS) through cloud platforms like IBM Quantum, AWS Braket, Azure Quantum, or Google Quantum AI. This is like how nobody builds their own data center they just rent computing power from AWS or Google Cloud. The same model is taking over quantum computing and it’s making this technology accessible to anyone right now in 2026.
What Makes Quantum Computers So Expensive: The Technical Reality The basic reason quantum computers are expensive is they’re incredibly hard to build and maintain. Unlike regular computers that use simple transistors operating at room temperature quantum computers need qubits that operate in conditions you wouldn’t believe.
The Cooling System Nightmare (30-40% of Total Cost) Most quantum computers today use superconducting qubits. These qubits only work at temperatures near absolute zero which is around -273°C or basically the coldest temperature physically possible in the universe. To achieve this you need something called a dilution refrigerator.
A dilution refrigerator is a massive complex machine that costs anywhere from $500,000 to over $2 million just for the fridge alone. And it’s not a one-time cost. The fridge needs liquid helium to operate which costs around $100,000 to $500,000 per year depending on how big your quantum system is. Some of the newer quantum computers are trying to operate at slightly higher temperatures to reduce cooling costs but we’re still talking about -270°C which is still insanely cold.
The cooling infrastructure alone can eat up 30-40% of the total quantum computer cost. This is why companies are researching alternative qubit technologies like photonic quantum computers or neutral-atom quantum computers that can operate at room temperature. If those work at scale the cost of quantum computers will drop dramatically.
Qubit Manufacturing: $10,000 to $50,000 Per Qubit Qubits are the most expensive component of any quantum computer. A single superconducting qubit costs anywhere from $10,000 to $50,000 to manufacture depending on the quality and error rate. This is because making qubits requires ultra-clean fabrication facilities similar to semiconductor fabs but with even stricter requirements.
The process involves depositing ultra-thin layers of superconducting materials like niobium or aluminum on silicon wafers using techniques like sputtering or molecular beam epitaxy. Then you use electron-beam lithography to pattern the qubits with nanometer precision. Any contamination or defect ruins the qubit so yields can be low which drives up costs.
And here’s the kicker you need way more physical qubits than logical qubits because of quantum error correction. Current quantum computers have error rates around 0.1% to 1% per gate operation. To make one reliable logical qubit you might need 100 to 1,000 physical qubits doing error correction. So if you want a quantum computer with 100 useful logical qubits you might actually need 10,000 to 100,000 physical qubits. Now multiply that by $10,000 to $50,000 per qubit and you see why these systems cost so much.
IBM’s Quantum System Two which has 433 qubits probably cost over $20 million just in qubit fabrication. And that’s before you add the fridge, control electronics, shielding, facility construction, and everything else.
Control Electronics and Classical Computing Infrastructure Every qubit needs to be precisely controlled with microwave pulses laser beams or magnetic fields depending on the qubit type. This requires banks of specialized control electronics including signal generators, amplifiers, analog-to-digital converters, and field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs).
The control system for a 100-qubit quantum computer can cost $1 million to $5 million. And you also need powerful classical computers to run the error correction algorithms, compile quantum circuits, and process the measurement results. A typical quantum computing setup has racks of classical servers working alongside the quantum processor.
Electromagnetic Shielding and Vibration Isolation Qubits are incredibly sensitive to environmental noise. Stray electromagnetic fields from your phone, vibrations from trucks driving by, or even cosmic rays from space can cause errors. So quantum computers need to be housed in specially constructed facilities with electromagnetic shielding rooms and vibration isolation platforms.
Building or retrofitting a facility for quantum computing can cost $500,000 to $5 million depending on the size and requirements. Some companies build entire underground bunkers just to minimize vibrations and electromagnetic interference.
Staffing and Operational Costs Running a quantum computer isn’t like running a server. You need a team of quantum engineers, physicists, and technicians who understand quantum mechanics, cryogenics, microwave engineering, and control systems. These are highly specialized people and they don’t come cheap.
A typical quantum computing lab might employ 10-50 people with salaries ranging from $80,000 to $300,000+ per year. Annual staffing costs can easily hit $2 million to $10 million for a serious quantum computing operation.
The system also needs constant calibration and maintenance. Qubits drift over time so you have to regularly recalibrate the control pulses. The dilution refrigerator needs servicing. Parts fail and need replacement. Operational costs can be 10-20% of the initial purchase price per year.
All of this adds up to why enterprise quantum computers cost what they cost. It’s not just the hardware it’s the entire ecosystem required to keep these machines running.
Quantum Computer Price by Category: What Can You Actually Buy in 2026 The quantum computer market has different price tiers for different use cases. Here’s the complete breakdown of what you can buy right now in 2026.
Educational Quantum Computers: $5,000 to $50,000 These are desktop or portable quantum computers designed for teaching quantum mechanics and quantum computing principles in schools and universities. They typically have 2-10 qubits and use Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) technology which operates at room temperature so no expensive cooling required.
SpinQ Gemini Mini - Around $5,000:
SpinQ Technology from China makes the cheapest quantum computer you can buy. The Gemini Mini is a 2-qubit NMR quantum computer that looks like a desktop PC tower. It weighs only 18 kg and operates at room temperature. This is designed for high schools and introductory university courses.
It comes with educational software and pre-programmed quantum algorithms like Grover’s search and Shor’s factoring algorithm. Students can learn quantum gates, quantum circuits, and basic quantum programming without needing a physics PhD to operate it.
The limitation is 2 qubits can’t do anything practically useful for real computations but that’s not the point. The point is hands-on learning. And for $5,000 that’s incredibly affordable compared to everything else in quantum computing.
SpinQ Gemini - Around $50,000:
The bigger brother Gemini has 3 qubits and more advanced features. It’s targeted at universities and research institutions that want something between a teaching tool and a real research device. The price is still in the affordable range for educational institutions.
Both SpinQ systems are actual quantum computers not simulators. They use real quantum phenomena (nuclear spin states in molecules) to perform quantum computations. This gives students experience with real quantum behavior including decoherence and quantum measurement.
Learn more about SpinQ: https://www.spinquanta.com/
Watch SpinQ Demo:
Search YouTube: “SpinQ quantum computer demo” or “SpinQ Gemini educational quantum”
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=spinq+quantum+computer+demo
Research-Grade Quantum Computers: $500,000 to $5 Million These are mid-range systems with 10-100 qubits designed for quantum research labs, specialized industry applications, and government research programs. They offer significantly better performance than educational systems but don’t have the massive qubit counts of enterprise systems.
SpinQ Triangulum Series - $500,000 to $1 Million:
SpinQ also makes research-grade systems with more qubits and better coherence times. These are suitable for materials science research, quantum chemistry simulations, and algorithm development.
QuantWare SOPRANO-D and CONTRALTO-D - $50,000 to $500,000:
QuantWare is a Dutch company making superconducting quantum processors (QPUs) that can be integrated into existing lab setups. Their modular approach lets research labs build custom quantum systems.
The SOPRANO-D is in the mid five-figure range and the CONTRALTO-D advanced model is in the low six-figure range. These are just the quantum chips you still need to provide your own dilution refrigerator and control electronics which can double or triple the total cost.
SpinQ Quantum Chips (QPUs) - $28,000 to $280,000:
SpinQ sells standalone quantum processing units with calibration and engineering support. This is for labs that want to experiment with quantum hardware without buying a complete turnkey system.
The pricing varies based on qubit count, gate fidelity, coherence time, and support services. SpinQ provides the full development lifecycle from design to fabrication to testing.
Learn more: https://www.spinquanta.com/news-detail/quantum-chip-price-guide
Industrial-Grade Quantum Computers: $5 Million to $100+ Million These are the big boys. State-of-the-art superconducting quantum computers or ion-trap systems with 100+ qubits designed for large corporations, government agencies, and national research labs.
IBM Quantum System Two - Estimated $15 Million to $30 Million:
IBM’s latest quantum computer has 433 qubits using their Eagle processor. The system includes multiple quantum processors, classical control systems, dilution refrigerators, and all the infrastructure needed for operation.
IBM doesn’t publicly list prices but industry estimates put their systems in the tens of millions range. Most organizations don’t buy IBM quantum computers they access them through IBM Quantum Cloud services instead.
IBM has installed Quantum System Ones at research institutions around the world including Cleveland Clinic in the US and Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft in Germany. These installations likely cost $10 million to $20 million each including facility upgrades and multi-year service contracts.
Learn more: https://www.ibm.com/quantum
Watch IBM Quantum System Two:
Search YouTube: “IBM Quantum System Two” or “IBM quantum computer tour”
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=IBM+quantum+system+two
D-Wave Advantage - Estimated $10 Million to $15 Million:
D-Wave makes quantum annealers which are specialized quantum computers for optimization problems. Their Advantage system has over 5,000 qubits but these are annealing qubits not universal gate-based qubits so they work differently than IBM or Google’s machines.
D-Wave has sold systems to companies like Lockheed Martin, Google, and NASA. Prices are estimated in the $10 million to $15 million range for the hardware plus installation and service contracts.
The advantage of D-Wave’s approach is their qubits operate at higher temperatures (around -272°C instead of -273°C) which makes cooling slightly easier and cheaper. But the trade-off is their machines can only solve specific types of optimization problems not general quantum algorithms.
Learn more: https://www.dwavesys.com/
Google Sycamore and Beyond - $50 Million to $100+ Million (Not For Sale):
Google’s quantum computers are research projects not commercial products. The Sycamore processor that achieved quantum supremacy in 2019 had 53 qubits. Google has since built more advanced systems with 70+ qubits.
Estimates suggest Google has spent over $100 million on their quantum computing program including hardware, facilities, and talent. Their quantum computers are not for sale they’re used for internal research and experiments.
Google provides access to quantum computers through Google Quantum AI cloud platform but you can’t buy the physical hardware.
IonQ and Quantinuum Trapped-Ion Systems - $10 Million to $50 Million:
IonQ and Quantinuum (merger of Honeywell Quantum and Cambridge Quantum) make trapped-ion quantum computers. These use lasers to manipulate individual atoms suspended in electromagnetic traps.
Trapped-ion systems have excellent coherence times and gate fidelities but they’re slower than superconducting systems. They also require complex laser setups and ultra-high vacuum chambers which makes them expensive.
IonQ has installed systems at select partners and Quantinuum has systems operating at their own facilities. Pricing is estimated in the tens of millions but both companies primarily offer cloud access rather than selling hardware.
Learn more:
IonQ: https://ionq.com/ Quantinuum: https://www.quantinuum.com/ Quantum Computing as a Service (QaaS): Cloud Pricing in 2026 Most organizations don’t buy quantum computers they rent quantum computing time through cloud platforms. This is way more practical because you avoid all the upfront costs and maintenance headaches.
IBM Quantum Cloud Pricing IBM offers both free and paid access to their quantum computers through IBM Quantum platform.
Free Tier:
Anyone can create an account and get free access to IBM’s smaller quantum systems with up to 127 qubits. There’s a limit on how much computing time you get per month (typically a few hours) but it’s enough for learning and small experiments.
Premium Tier:
For serious research or commercial applications IBM offers reserved access to their larger systems. Pricing is typically based on “quantum seconds” which is the actual time your quantum circuit runs on the quantum processor.
Estimates range from $1 to $10 per quantum second depending on the system size and priority level. A typical quantum computing job might use 100 to 10,000 quantum seconds so costs can range from hundreds to tens of thousands of dollars per project.
IBM also offers dedicated access where organizations get exclusive use of a quantum system for a period of time. This can cost $500,000 to several million dollars per year.
IBM Quantum Platform: https://quantum.ibm.com/
AWS Braket Quantum Computing Amazon Web Services provides access to multiple quantum computers from different providers through AWS Braket including D-Wave, IonQ, Rigetti, and QuEra.
Pricing Structure:
Per-shot pricing: $0.30 to $3.00 per shot depending on the quantum hardware Per-task pricing: $0.30 base fee plus per-shot costs QPU time: Additional charges for quantum processing unit time A typical quantum computing task might cost $100 to $5,000 depending on complexity and number of shots required. AWS also charges for the classical computing resources used to prepare and post-process quantum circuits.
AWS Braket: https://aws.amazon.com/braket/
Microsoft Azure Quantum Microsoft provides access to quantum hardware from IonQ, Quantinuum, Rigetti, and Pasqal through Azure Quantum. They also offer quantum simulators for testing circuits before running on real hardware.
Pricing:
Credits-based system: You buy Azure Quantum credits Different hardware providers have different credit costs Quantum simulators are often free or very cheap Real quantum hardware ranges from $0.30 to several dollars per quantum second Microsoft also bundles quantum computing with their Azure cloud services so you can build hybrid classical-quantum applications.
Azure Quantum: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/products/quantum/
Google Quantum AI Cloud Google provides limited access to their quantum computers through partnerships and their Quantum AI cloud platform. Access is more restricted compared to IBM or AWS but they’re expanding.
Pricing isn’t publicly available you typically need to apply for access and Google decides on a case-by-case basis. It’s primarily for research partners and select commercial customers.
Google Quantum AI: https://quantumai.google/
Which Cloud Platform Should You Use? For learning and education: IBM Quantum free tier is the best. You get access to real quantum hardware for free and IBM has the best documentation and tutorials.
For business and research: AWS Braket gives you the most hardware choices from different vendors. Azure Quantum is good if you’re already in the Microsoft ecosystem.
For cutting-edge research: Try to get access to Google’s platform or work with IonQ/Quantinuum directly.
The cloud model is probably how most people will use quantum computers for the next 10-20 years. It’s just way more practical than trying to build and maintain your own quantum computer unless you’re IBM, Google, or a national research lab.
Cost to Build a Quantum Computer from Scratch: What It Actually Takes If you wanted to build your own quantum computer from scratch not buy one what would it cost? This is what universities and startups are doing when they build custom quantum systems.
Small Research System (5-10 Qubits): $2 Million to $5 Million Components:
Dilution refrigerator: $500,000 to $1 million Qubit chips: $50,000 to $500,000 (5-10 qubits at $10K-$50K each) Control electronics: $200,000 to $500,000 Classical computing infrastructure: $100,000 to $300,000 Electromagnetic shielding and lab setup: $300,000 to $500,000 Software and development: $200,000 to $500,000 Staffing (3-5 people for 1-2 years): $500,000 to $1 million Total: $2 million to $5 million
This is what a university research group might spend to build a basic quantum computer for algorithm research and student training. It won’t compete with IBM or Google but it’s enough to do real quantum experiments.
Mid-Scale System (50-100 Qubits): $10 Million to $30 Million Scaling up to 50-100 qubits dramatically increases complexity and cost. You need:
Larger dilution refrigerators with more cooling power More sophisticated qubit fabrication (higher yields needed) Significantly more control electronics Better error correction systems Larger team of specialized engineers Most startups working on quantum computers have raised $20 million to $100 million in venture funding to build systems in this range. Companies like Rigetti, IonQ, and Atom Computing have all raised substantial funding to develop their quantum computers.
Large-Scale System (500+ Qubits): $50 Million to $200+ Million This is what IBM, Google, and government-funded programs are spending. The IBM Quantum Network and Google Quantum AI have each invested over $100 million in quantum computing infrastructure.
At this scale you’re not just building a quantum computer you’re building an entire quantum computing research facility with:
Multiple quantum systems for redundancy and experimentation Custom qubit fabrication facilities Teams of 50-100+ people Dedicated data centers for classical computing Years of R&D to develop better qubits and error correction Only well-funded organizations can afford to build quantum computers at this scale. This is why the quantum computing industry is dominated by tech giants and government-backed programs.
The Future of Quantum Computer Prices: What to Expect by 2030 Quantum computer prices are going to change dramatically over the next 5-10 years. Here’s what the industry experts are predicting.
Cloud Services Will Get Cheaper and More Accessible The biggest trend is quantum computing will become primarily a cloud service not a hardware purchase. Just like how most companies use AWS instead of building their own data centers quantum computing will follow the same path.
As more quantum computers come online and competition increases cloud pricing will drop. By 2030 we might see quantum computing costs drop to $0.10 to $0.50 per quantum second compared to $1 to $10 today. This will make quantum computing accessible to small businesses and individual researchers not just big corporations.
Educational Systems Will Drop to $1,000 to $2,000 SpinQ and other companies are working on even cheaper educational quantum computers. The goal is to get the price down to $1,000 to $2,000 so every university and even high schools can afford them.
This will happen through better manufacturing techniques, room-temperature qubit technologies, and economies of scale as production volumes increase.
Mid-Range Systems Could Hit $100,000 to $500,000 Research-grade quantum computers might drop from millions to hundreds of thousands as qubit fabrication improves and cooling systems become more efficient. Some companies are working on modular quantum systems where you can start small and add more qubits over time which spreads the cost.
Error-Corrected Quantum Computers Will Cost $100+ Million The next major milestone is fault-tolerant quantum computers with full error correction. These will have millions of physical qubits implementing thousands of logical qubits. They’ll be able to run quantum algorithms for hours or days without errors.
Building these systems will cost $100 million to $1 billion. Only governments, tech giants, and well-funded quantum computing companies will build them. But they’ll be available through cloud services so everyone can use them.
Consumer Quantum Computers Probably Won’t Happen Some people ask “when will I be able to buy a quantum laptop?” The honest answer is probably never or at least not for 30-50 years.
Quantum computers are specialized tools for specific types of problems. For everyday computing tasks like browsing the web, watching videos, or running office software regular computers are better and always will be.
What might happen is hybrid systems where your laptop or phone connects to cloud quantum computers for specific tasks like encryption, optimization, or AI training. But the quantum computer itself will remain in a data center not sitting on your desk.
Think of it like how we use GPUs for graphics and AI. Most people don’t have high-end GPUs in their laptops they use cloud services like Midjourney or ChatGPT that run on data center GPUs. Quantum computing will work the same way.
Real-World Quantum Computer Prices: What Companies Actually Paid Let’s look at some real examples of organizations that bought or built quantum computers and what they spent.
Cleveland Clinic and IBM Quantum System One - Estimated $20+ Million In 2021 Cleveland Clinic partnered with IBM to install an IBM Quantum System One on their campus in Ohio. This was the first private sector quantum computer in the healthcare industry.
The total investment including the quantum computer, facility construction, and 10-year partnership is estimated at over $20 million. Cleveland Clinic is using it for drug discovery and biomedical research.
Los Alamos National Laboratory Custom Quantum Systems - $30+ Million Los Alamos has built multiple quantum computing systems for nuclear weapons research and quantum algorithm development. They’ve invested over $30 million in quantum hardware and infrastructure.
They use a mix of superconducting qubits, trapped ions, and neutral atoms to research different quantum technologies.
D-Wave at NASA and Lockheed Martin - $10-15 Million Each NASA and Lockheed Martin both purchased D-Wave quantum annealers for optimization research. The systems cost an estimated $10 million to $15 million each plus ongoing maintenance costs.
These were some of the first commercial quantum computer sales back in the 2010s and helped prove there was a market for quantum computing hardware.
Should You Buy a Quantum Computer or Use Cloud Services? For 99% of organizations and individuals the answer is clear: use cloud services. Here’s why.
When to Use Quantum Cloud Services You should use cloud if:
You’re learning quantum computing You’re doing research or algorithm development You run occasional quantum computing jobs You want access to multiple quantum computer types You don’t want to hire a quantum engineering team Your budget is under $10 million Cloud services give you instant access to the latest quantum hardware without any upfront investment. You can experiment with different quantum computers from IBM, Google, IonQ, Rigetti, and others to see which works best for your application.
The free tiers from IBM and others are perfect for learning and education. And if you need more computing power you can scale up by paying for premium access.
When to Build or Buy Your Own Quantum Computer You should build your own if:
You’re a major research university building a quantum program You need dedicated 24/7 access to quantum hardware You’re developing proprietary quantum algorithms You have $5+ million budget and quantum expertise in-house You’re working on classified or highly sensitive projects Building your own quantum computer makes sense for national labs, top research universities, and well-funded quantum computing startups. But for everyone else cloud is the way to go.
Learning Resources and Videos About Quantum Computer Pricing If you want to learn more about quantum computer costs and the economics of quantum computing here are great resources.
YouTube Videos Quantum Computer Price Overviews:
Search: “how much does quantum computer cost” or “quantum computer price 2026”
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=quantum+computer+cost+price
IBM Quantum System Tours:
Search: “IBM quantum computer facility tour” or “IBM quantum data center”
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=IBM+quantum+computer+tour
SpinQ Educational Quantum Computer Demos:
Search: “SpinQ quantum computer” or “educational quantum computer demo”
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=SpinQ+quantum+computer
D-Wave Quantum Annealer Explanation:
Search: “D-Wave quantum computer explained” or “quantum annealer how it works”
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=D-Wave+quantum+computer
Articles and Industry Reports Quantum Computing Pricing Guides:
SpinQ Quantum Computer Price Guide: https://www.spinquanta.com/news-detail/quantum-computers-cost-price-guide-factors-and-spinq-solutions Quantum Zeitgeist Price Analysis: https://quantumzeitgeist.com/the-price-of-a-quantum-computer/ Patent PC Cost Analysis: https://patentpc.com/blog/the-cost-of-quantum-computing-how-expensive-is-it-to-run-a-quantum-system-stats-inside Industry News:
The Quantum Insider: https://thequantuminsider.com/ IEEE Spectrum Quantum: https://spectrum.ieee.org/tag/quantum-computing MIT Technology Review Quantum: https://www.technologyreview.com/topic/computing/quantum-computing/ Cloud Platform Documentation IBM Quantum Pricing:
https://www.ibm.com/quantum/pricing
AWS Braket Pricing:
https://aws.amazon.com/braket/pricing/
Azure Quantum Pricing:
https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/azure-quantum/
Research Papers and Market Analysis Search Google Scholar for: “quantum computing cost” or “quantum computer market analysis”
https://scholar.google.com/
Market research firms like Gartner, McKinsey, and BCG have published reports on quantum computing economics and market forecasts.
Conclusion: Quantum Computer Prices Are Coming Down But Still Expensive Quantum computers in 2026 range from $5,000 educational desktop systems to over $100 million enterprise superconducting quantum computers. The cost depends entirely on what you need it for.
For education SpinQ offers incredible value at $5,000 to $50,000. For research you’re looking at $500,000 to $5 million. For cutting-edge commercial quantum computing you need $10 million to $100+ million or you use cloud services which cost $100 to $10,000 per computing job.
The main cost drivers are qubit fabrication, ultra-cold cooling systems, control electronics, facility construction, and expert staffing. These costs are slowly coming down as the industry scales and technology improves but quantum computers will remain expensive for at least the next decade.
The good news is you don’t need to buy a quantum computer to use one. Cloud platforms from IBM, AWS, Microsoft, and Google give you access to real quantum hardware for free or affordable pay-per-use pricing. This is how most people will experience quantum computing for the foreseeable future.
The quantum computer market is growing fast. More companies are entering the space competition is increasing and costs are dropping. By 2030 we’ll likely see quantum computers that are 10x more powerful at 50% of today’s cost. But they’ll still be specialized research tools not consumer products.
If you’re interested in quantum computing start with the free cloud platforms. Imagine you are working hard to build the things which will never be yours and you making just for some money every month, that doesn’t make any sense to me. If you really in bad situation like don’t have enough savings to survive then its okay to rent some of your time. Another scenario is if you want to engage some specific people you believe worth to work with that’s also okay for temporary time. Because sometime to learn, go deep and understand specific business set up or industry you can work with the people who already is making enough ramification.
But make sure you are not there to secure your career like other 9 to 5 people, even you are widely doing well in corporate life getting big amount of pay check and success, stay there until you have gain enough to start and run your company or solo startup. Remember Robert Kiyosaki’s quote, “Rich people don’t work for money”. If you can’t fix your mentality you can’t produce value. Rich peoples means the people who have rich Mentality. If your mentality is not rich you will be poor again although you are billionaire now in terms of money. Think about it why rich people often very confidently say if you left them anywhere in the world as empty they will be wealthy again. So, it’s not about money it’s about some very different philosophy, knowledge, skill and mentality.
The Definition, Elimination and Automation Theory for Indie Hackers Remember the Definition, Elimination and Automation theory by Tim Ferris. You need to eliminate after defining. Define what you want in next six month, define exactly what you want and what have to be done to fulfill the goal. After defining clearly in a written format in several place then eliminate everything which will not help you to fulfill your goal. You will get many things that are unnecessary and pure time wasting things you were doing. Eliminate them quickly.
Another things is don’t make long term plan, it will most likely not beneficial. After six month you can make another six month plan like the same way. I found these are very helpful I recommend to read “Four Hour Work Week”. You will learn so many things like information diet, dream-line prepare, many tools and how to use those to increase productivity and save your time from doing the unnecessary work that is not have any ramification in your life at all. You will learn how to do anything faster than ever before, how to do something you are fearing to start, how to getting things done by outsource your work when you are travelling, Mini retirement theory and so on.
But nowadays you can do most of the things without virtual assistant or outsource through AI agent. Platform like n8n, Zapier are great tools to automate and done so many things. So, definition, elimination and automation is important. Although this blog is not about productivity and lifestyle but these are important.
So, Eliminating your job in a right time is the first step of working for you.
The Alex Hormozi Approach to Taking Action “If you want to achieve something but can’t start then put yourself in a situation where you have no option but to do that.” @Alex Hormozi
This is powerful. If you are serious about indie hacking you need to create the pressure that forces you to succeed. That might mean quitting your job before you feel ready, or publicly committing to launch a product on Twitter. When there’s no safety net you find a way.
When You Starting to Work for Yourself: Join the Indie Hacker Community At the very beginning you need to engaged with the whole community of indie hackers to know and learn how things works. X (formerly twitter) is the primary platform where most indie hackers are active in real time. Many of them are build their tiny startup and SaaS in public, they show every single action of progress in X post and community post.
Reddit is another great things to learn and show your stuff you are building there are many sub Reddit in different topic you and join and technically promote your stuff and if you are able smartly active in Reddit it will give you a lot. Hacker News by Y Combinator is the most popular platform to see what going on in tech. Listening Podcast about this topic is also helpful, listen from successful indie hacker about their journey will inspire you a lot. Making a proper mindset and a environment which will drive you through the inside of Entrepreneurship is really important.
Best Platforms to Follow Indie Hackers in 2026 Twitter/X for Building in Public:
Follow these successful indie hackers who share their journey:
@levelsio (Pieter Levels) - Built NomadList, RemoteOK, PhotoAI @marclou (Marc Lou) - Built ShipFast, multiple products @dannypostmaa - Ships products fast @tdinh_me (Tony Dinh) - Built BlackMagic, multiple SaaS @dvassallo - Ex-Amazon engineer turned indie hacker Search on Twitter: “#buildinpublic” or “indie hacker journey”
Reddit Communities:
r/SideProject - Share what you’re building r/startups - Startup discussions r/Entrepreneur - General entrepreneurship r/SaaS - SaaS-specific content r/indiehackers - Indie hacking community Hacker News:
https://news.ycombinator.com/
Daily tech news, Show HN for product launches, Ask HN for questions.
YouTube Channels for Indie Hackers:
Search “indie hacker journey” or “build in public vlog” to find countless creators documenting their path.
Just Start Making Your Own Dream Idea: Don’t Fear Anything If you don’t start it will never finish but if you start doing something; it will end up with a result. The result will most likely give you enormous valuable experience and make you stronger then ever before. And some of your tiny project might become giant one day. I recommend do everything from idea to building, launching and selling as solo as possible. In that way you will going through the process of everything.
Once you will learn how to build, ship, market, launch and sell you will be unstoppable. Your financial freedom will boom. But it’s will be hard for first 2 or 3 project, you just have to try everything and too busy to drinking coffee and working so hard, Eventually you will become a free and happy guy. In X(formerly twitter) @levelsio @marclou and other indie hacker’s journey is the most incredible example how to achieve. You will find so many people are making their own startup and getting success. And many of them have no Computer science degree, they learn everything by doing, so why you can’t?
The Build-Ship-Market Cycle for Solo Founders Most indie hackers follow this cycle:
Build: Create your MVP (Minimum Viable Product) in 2-4 weeks. Don’t spend months perfecting. Ship fast, learn fast.
Ship: Launch on Product Hunt, Hacker News, Twitter, Reddit. Get your product in front of real users.
Market: Use Twitter threads, YouTube videos, blog posts, cold emails to grow. Content marketing is free.
Iterate: Listen to users, fix bugs, add features they actually want. Repeat the cycle.
This is how @levelsio built 12 startups in 12 months. This is how @marclou ships products every few weeks. Speed matters more than perfection.
You May Already Have Great Ideas Inside: Make It Real Now Just start building from now, you don’t need to become expert in any particular domain in advance. You will learn everything you need in your path, in this way it will be make sure that you are not wasting your time by learning something you will don’t use and using your time by learning things you are really need at real time. For building phrase your first goal is to make a MVP. And launch it to test people who you are caring about is liking it or not.
You must have an define customer who have specific problem and your product is about to solve that problem. I assume you already have ideas how and where to launch your product. Most obvious place is social media like X, Reddit, Tiktok shorts, YouTube channel if you have one. And then platform like Hacker News, Product Hunt, Beta List, Tiny Launch, Peerlist, etc. are famous to introduce your SaaS or specific solution you made. Each platform have different rules and way of operating to successfully get the advantage. If your product is good you will get enough traffic and paid customer from initial launch.
Your first project don’t have to be perfect, What you need is your idea is really problem solving of your identified customer and ensuring that you present your product to those who really have those problem. I recommend a book named “MAKE” by Pieter Levels, it’s not promoting. I read that book and I believe you can learn almost all of the things related to Indie Hacking this book is all about from idea generation to Building and Marketing/Getting enough Users also how to make it famous.
Pieter is the most influential indie hacker in the world. He is widely success and famous for building many successful stuff. According to him you don’t need to learn more to start building you can start what you already know and make it lean, ship fast to check if people liking it or paying for it. If not then probably you need to focus on another idea and make a quick MVP to test again. Meanwhile you will become expert of the process and easily can build and market your next one. Pieter build something like 40 product but only 5 to 6 of them are widely successful.
Where to Launch Your Indie Hacker Product in 2026 Product Hunt:
https://www.producthunt.com/
The biggest product launch platform. Prepare well, launch on Tuesday-Thursday for best results.
Hacker News - Show HN:
https://news.ycombinator.com/showhn.html
Great for technical products. Follow each subreddit’s rules.
Twitter/X:
Build audience first, then launch with a thread explaining your journey and product.
Don’t Expect Your First Product Will Be Successful: Although It Can Be Most people give up because they think it’s not working after failing one or two project but the reality is failing several time at first is the very natural part of most of the time with most of the people. If you give up in that period then you are out, Don’t give up just for failing when it is very obvious things. If you are not exceptional lucky its normal to struggle at first. Accept it positively and keep working.
Recently I found a girl named Elina Jordan in my X feed. X recommend her as I’m interested about the topic. Elina was a Scuba diver professionally and had zero experience about building SaaS. She join a boot camp to code and start building now she have some of the successful product, she is living in Palau on a boat and making new stuff and she also grow her X account to more than 20k followers in a very few time. There are plenty of example. Pieter Levels himself was a BBA (Business Background) guy. These people have struggle in early days.
This is the time of AI and plenty of tools to help you.
I used to say that ‘If you are really want to make your own product it’s hard to fail’. If you are not enough capable to make a SaaS then start with simple website and monetize it, put affiliate link and sponsor and keep following the community and learn from everywhere. If you are hard working failure is hard than success. Hard work is must, Patience is must, Failing several time is must. Don’t try to ignore those.
Real Indie Hacker Success Stories to Inspire You Pieter Levels (@levelsio):
Built NomadList ($3M+ revenue), RemoteOK ($1M+ revenue), PhotoAI ($1M+ revenue). Your first product might flop. Your second might get 10 users. Your third might make $100. But your fourth or fifth? That could be the one that changes everything.
The difference between successful indie hackers and those who quit is simple: successful ones didn’t quit. They kept building, kept shipping, kept learning.
Tools and Resources for Indie Hackers in 2026 AI Tools for Building Faster:
Claude (Anthropic) - Code assistance, debugging, architecture GitHub Copilot - AI pair programmer Cursor - AI-first code editor v0.dev - Generate UI components ChatGPT/Gemini - General problem solving Automation and Workflow:
n8n - Open source workflow automation Zapier - Connect apps and automate Make (Integromat) - Visual automation Supabase - Backend as a service Firebase - Backend platform Marketing and Growth:
ConvertKit - Email marketing for creators Buffer - Social media scheduling Plausible - Privacy-friendly analytics Fathom Analytics - Simple analytics Lemon Squeezy - Sell digital products Payment Processing:
Stripe - Payment processing Paddle - Merchant of record Lemon Squeezy - All-in-one payments Gumroad - Sell digital products Design Tools:
Figma - UI/UX design Canva - Quick graphics Excalidraw - Sketching and diagrams Hosting (All Have Free Tiers):
Vercel - Deploy Next.js, React Netlify - Static sites Railway - Backend hosting Fly.io - Deploy anywhere Render - Web services The Financial Reality of Indie Hacking: What You Need to Know Let’s talk money. Most indie hackers don’t make money for the first 3-6 months or more. Some take a year. But once you find product-market fit the numbers can be incredible.
Realistic Timeline:
Month 1-3: Build and launch. Maybe $0-500/month Month 4-6: Iterate, market. Maybe $500-2000/month Month 7-12: Growth phase. $2000-10000/month possible Year 2+: Scale or start new products. $10K-50K+/month possible
These aren’t guarantees. Many products never make money. But if you keep building and learning your chances increase with each attempt.
Cost to Start:
Domain: $10-15/year Hosting: $0-20/month (free tiers available) Tools: $0-100/month (many have free plans) Total: You can start for under $100 Compare that to traditional startups that need $50K-500K to launch. Indie hacking is the most capital-efficient way to build a business.
The Indie Hacker Lifestyle: Freedom and Flexibility This is what you’re actually building toward. Not just money, but freedom.
Work from anywhere: Beach in Bali, cafe in Paris, your bedroom. Doesn’t matter.
Set your own hours: Night owl? Work at 2am. Morning person? Start at 5am.
No meetings: Unless you want them.
No commute: Your office is wherever your laptop is.
No permission needed: Want to try a new idea? Just build it.
Keep 100% of profits: No investors, no shareholders. It’s all yours.
This is why indie hackers do it. The money is great but the freedom is priceless.
Common Mistakes Indie Hackers Make (And How to Avoid Them) Building Without Validating Don’t spend 6 months building something nobody wants. Talk to potential users first. Get them to pay upfront if possible. If people won’t give you their email they definitely won’t give you their money.
Perfectionism Paralysis Your first version will suck. Ship it anyway. You can improve later. Pieter Levels’ first version of NomadList was a simple Google Sheet. Now it makes millions.
Not Marketing Enough Build in public from day one. Share your journey on Twitter. Write about what you’re learning. Make YouTube videos. The audience you build while making your product becomes your first customers.
Working on Too Many Things Focus. One product at a time until it’s launched and validated. Then you can start the next one.
Ignoring the Numbers Track your metrics from day one. Revenue, users, churn, conversion rates. You can’t improve what you don’t measure.
Giving Up Too Soon Most indie hackers quit right before they would have succeeded. If you really in bad situation like don’t have enough savings to survive then its okay to rent some of your time. Another scenario is if you want to engage some specific people you believe worth to work with that’s also okay for temporary time. What is the easiest programming language?, What should be first programming language to learn?, What is the best programming language?, Best way to learn code?, Most effective way to learn code, etc. etc. There are so many unnecessary advisors among the internet to make novice coder confuse. It’s not unusual that novice will search in the internet to know what should he or she learn for long term. People want to learn something which is always in a middle point for almost all kind of development, have great job demand and can be use to build cool stuff they care about, programming language that will damageable for a long time, Can be use to make all of the things or need everywhere, etc. etc. In this article I will give you most realistic guide to start learning programming/coding. Read carefully you will be thankful and will get ultimate and right way to learn code.
Why Most Programming Advice for Beginners is Wrong (And What to Do Instead) Guiding those novice is a good thing but the problem is the guide available on so many YouTube videos or so many blogs are mostly misguide. As Peter Levels said, “The people discussing what programming language is best are not shipping products. The people who don’t care what programming language they’re using are shipping products. They’ll use whatever tool they need, whenever they need it and My approach is that I only learn what I directly need now. Let’s say I’m building a new app where I need to make beautiful charts in HTMl quickly. I’ll try it on my own first, but if it’s too much work, I’ll just Google it”.
There is no best programming language, you can’t say a single language is best in general. Novice go through a period when they search everywhere what language they should started with, at that time they found so many distracted content about what should they start with. So many content creator publish so many opinion because they have different background experience, skills, knowledge and environment. Their industry might be different and their understanding about the Tech world. But the person who seeking the information of what language they should select is completely new and probably have so different perspective or there is no perspective at all. Content providers and they have totally a new world of understanding about the technology.
The Dangerous Loop That Traps Beginner Programmers Another dangerous thing is sometimes content maker himself is not a programmer. It’s so easy to be lost and select a wrong one by the novice. So many people are on that loop. Of course some content creator or blogger give good information and guide to those novice. Imagine if I don’t know anything about you how its logical to advice you?.
Sometimes many people say that what you are picking is not a big deal at all after learning one you can handle any other thing if needed. I don’t think it’s a good advice. Because if I don’t know anything about you, How can I guide you to select a thing that will may be against, goals and objective, your psychology and motivation. In that way you will doom and your journey will probably not be consistent.
Most of the time novice start with a language or framework which they wouldn’t use in real life when they will start their actual war. At that time they will realize that best programming language tutorial actually sucks them. Then they start to learn and work with right and actual things they really need.
How to Choose Your First Programming Language: The Real Strategy If you are not sure that what industry you will love to work with that is a scenario, If you are sure that you will work with and will like about a specific industry (e.g. Blockchain) that is a different scenario, And someone think they will work for a specific industry they are loving but it will change next year or anytime future that is another different scenario.
You have to believe that life goal, industry selections, and future plan will change for a several time if you are in a stage when you searching what programming language or industry you should select. Most of the time it happens may be not for all. At that point it’s good to learn first something which is really universal and must for anything.
People are debate that first language should be JavaScript somebody say if you are not care about web then it should be Python. Some people will tell you to learn C first. But my advice is if you are a complete beginner, be master about HTML and CSS first.
(Note: HTML and CSS are not programming language these are markup and style sheet, ensure customization of visibility on the web page).
Why HTML and CSS Should Be Your Starting Point (Avoid this part if you already know HTML and CSS) HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) are not just about making websites look pretty. They are the foundation of everything you see on the internet. Here’s why you should start here:
Universal Application: Every website, web app, mobile app interface uses HTML and CSS concepts. Even if you move to mobile development or desktop applications later, understanding how user interfaces work is critical.
Immediate Visual Feedback: When you write HTML and CSS you see results immediately in your browser. This instant feedback loop keeps you motivated and helps you understand what your code is doing.
Low Barrier to Entry: You don’t need to install complicated software or understand complex programming concepts. Just open a text editor and a browser and you’re ready to go.
Foundation for Everything Else: Once you know HTML and CSS you’ll naturally discover what programming language you need next based on what you want to build.
More over that these are very easy and least time consuming to learn, You will get so much confidence and dopamine to keep your consistency.
Learn and use HTML and CSS by making your own personal website or blogs you wanted to build with love. Because HTML and CSS are the most universal thing everywhere you must have to master. Then try to implement new things in your site and you will encounter you need something with HTML and CSS. At that point you will really understand what programming language you should learn first. If you found you need a specific language, use it by searching Google, LLM or YouTube, meanwhile you learned practically by doing. And then try to do same thing through other language that can be use to build the stuff you are building. Finally you will get what is easier, comfortable and matching with you. Best way to learn is exploring, doing and making mistake. Be master of making mistake and exploring before selecting prematurely anything, and this theory is true for everywhere.
The Build-First Learning Method: Learning Programming in 2026 When you will start to build with markup (HTML) and style sheet (CSS), now you will get what language is actually need alongside with markup (HTML) and style sheet (CSS). You don’t need to concentrate like become master at that language what is needed at that time but learn carefully how much you need to know to build that things properly.
This is the best way to know what language you should select. Now a days many developers will agree with that because it is the actual right way, Learning by what is actually need in your war. If you are currently motivated to make a thing find out what is the lean way to do that which will drive you what language stuff you need. Just learn by solving your every steps building issues.
This is the era of plenty of leverage AI tools, LLMs, AI code editor and so on. Always remember you want learn for building thing not for showcase serially one by one. Replit CEO said, “as our primary objective is to build the things, so why not both building and learning together”.
How AI Tools Change Programming Learning in 2025 The landscape of learning to code has completely changed with AI assistance. Here’s how to use these tools the right way:
LLM for Code: These AI assistants can explain code concepts, debug your errors, and suggest solutions. But don’t just copy paste. Ask them to explain WHY something works the way it does. (e.g. Claude, Grok, Gemini)
GitHub Copilot: This AI pair programmer suggests code as you type. It’s great for learning syntax and common patterns. But again understand what it’s suggesting before you accept it.
Cursor AI Editor: An entire code editor built around AI assistance. You can chat with your codebase and ask questions about your own code.
The Right Way to Use AI: Use AI as a teacher not as a replacement for learning. When AI gives you code ask it to break down each line. Ask “why did you use this approach instead of that approach?” Make the AI explain its reasoning.
Why You Should Explore Before Committing to a Programming Language People are hurry about to select a language and start learning blindly without make sense where, when and why they will use that language. You should spend time to explore everything by using and practically doing something with all of the tech stack in your radar.
Premature choice is everywhere according to Naval Ravikant “You should spend at least 25% of your total time selecting what you will involve yourself with.” You will use your tech stack for the rest of your life but you attempt to select it within very short time without try all of them for your real life needs.
Try to use every language that can usable for the things you want to build, you will get what you should go with?
The 25% Rule for Choosing Your Tech Stack Here’s a practical way to apply Naval’s wisdom to programming:
If you plan to spend one year learning programming, spend 3 months (25%) exploring different paths. Build tiny projects with different technologies. This exploration period is not wasted time it’s investment in making the right choice.
During this exploration phase keep a journal. Write down what you enjoyed what frustrated you and what made sense to your brain. Different languages suit different thinking styles. For example, Some people love Python’s readability others prefer JavaScript’s flexibility. You won’t know until you try.
Programming Learning Resources in 2026: Free Online Learning Platforms: Harvard Online’s CS50: This is the great environment to learn from scratch with worldwide smart students. Organized by Harvard’s Online education program, Programming and computer science related courses are named as CS50. There are many valuable well structure course related to learn different purpose and language. You can find one which you need, The course materials and resources will organized through edX (https://www.edx.org/cs50). For a complete beginner I recommend CS50x (https://harvardonline.harvard.edu/course/cs50-introduction-computer-science). The instructors like Daivid J. Manan, Brian Yu, Doug Lloyd are so smart and provide great lectures. Assignment and real project end of courses are so helpful which made it very structured and effective. You will get certificate also by completing every single course, even you enrolled as full free of cost.
There are some MIT’s course also in available in edX, You can look up.
freeCodeCamp (https://www.freecodecamp.org/) offers completely free courses from HTML/CSS basics to advanced Language.
Only Programming learning resource you need: You will find almost all in one free learning resources in your comfortable language from this link below:
https://github.com/EbookFoundation/free-programming-books
Code Editors and Development Tools: Visual Studio Code (https://code.visualstudio.com/) is the most popular free code editor. It works on Windows, Mac, and Linux. Install extensions like Live Server to preview your HTML files instantly.
Cursor (https://cursor.sh/) is the AI-first code editor. If you want to learn with AI assistance this is the cutting edge tool.
CodePen (https://codepen.io/) lets you write HTML, CSS, and JavaScript in your browser and see results immediately. Perfect for beginners who don’t want to set up local development environment yet.
Common Mistakes Beginner Programmers Make (And How to Avoid Them) Tutorial Hell: Watching Without Building The biggest trap is watching tutorial after tutorial without building anything yourself. You feel like you’re learning but you’re not really. Doing live by watching, pausing and reading is really work.
Not Using Version Control From Day One Learn Git and GitHub early. Every professional developer uses version control. It’s not optional. You don’t need to master it, Learn some basic comment and usability you need now and how its work.
This is most Basic Git commands you will use when you will make any new change in your code:
git init # Start tracking a project git add . # Stage your changes git commit -m "Description of what you changed" # Save a version git push # Upload to GitHub This will updated your project after a new change you committed.
Learn Git here: https://git-scm.com/doc
Copying Code Without Understanding AI and Stack Overflow make it easy to find solutions but if you just copy paste you learn nothing. Always ask “why does this work?” and try to explain it in your own words.
Ignoring the Fundamentals Variables, loops, functions, conditionals these concepts appear in every language. Don’t rush past them to get to “cool stuff”. Strong fundamentals make everything else easier.
How Long Does It Take to Learn Programming? This is the question everyone asks. The honest answer is it depends on your goals and how much time you invest. Your goal is not learn programming but be able to making stuff, eventually you learn automatically not only coding but most valuable skill how to learn by doing. If your goal is to learn programming because you will get a job or it’s lucrative you will doom, because learning programming isn’t something you are forced to learn if you are not computer science man. Your goal should be making things done using code in anyway. This is an ocean you can’t learn everything, be lean and learn what is currently in your need in your code and don’t think how much time you need to learn.
The Community Aspect: Learning Programming is Not a Solo Journey Join programming communities. Learning alone is hard. Here’s where to find help:
Reddit r/learnprogramming: Ask questions, share your progress, get feedback on your code. The community is beginner-friendly.
Stack Overflow (https://stackoverflow.com/): Search for answers to coding problems. Eventually you’ll be able to help others too.
Discord Servers: Join coding Discord communities like The Odin Project Discord, freeCodeCamp Discord, or 100Devs. Real-time chat with other learners and experienced developers.
Twitter/X Developer Community: Follow developers, share your learning journey using hashtags like #100DaysOfCode. The programming community on Twitter is active and supportive.
Boot camp: If you are someone who really love to collaborations, learn with others and learn from others and introduce, then it will be helpful for you.
The Truth About Learning Programming Learning programming is not easy but it’s definitely doable. The key is building things not just consuming tutorials. Start with HTML and CSS because they’re universal and give immediate feedback. Let your projects guide what language you learn next.
Don’t rush to pick a language based on what some YouTube video says is “best”. Spend time exploring different options. Use AI tools wisely as teachers not crutches. Join communities for support. Build a portfolio while you learn.
The programmers who succeed are not the ones who know the most languages or the most theory. They’re the ones who keep building, keep solving problems, and keep learning from mistakes. Your goal is not to become a master of syntax your goal is to become a builder who uses code as a tool.
When you actually in the war building real things you’ll naturally discover what language you need to learn next. That’s how you learn programming the right way in 2026.
Start building from today. Few days later he also share the same Gold analysis in his personal Youtube channel. I found when he was showing his analysis about Gold; was describing a very interesting kind of technical analogy in candlestick chart for two different time period. He have been in weekly chart and there was two window in his chart, one is end of 1979 and one is nowadays end of 2025 chart. I just impressed after watching this analysis and I immediately jump on gold chart to play with this kind of hot analogy and what I found is that you would probably love if you are really involve with Gold and believe in Gold.
Gold weekly chart analogy between 1979 and 2025 on Gareth’s Screen
Let’s talk about what Gareth Showed: Look at the chart there are exactly 9 bullish candle in both situation after a little bull move and side wise consolidation. And when the consolidation level break with bullish candle there is no bear candle till next 9 candle. Look what happen in 1979’s chart exactly end of 9th candle and starting of 10th candle market down to a crazy bearish up to previous swing high (from where first candle of Nine was started), in 1979 which he showed with a horizontal ray. Now look at the 2025 chart market is exactly same situation technically and its going down to touch previous swing high’s horizontal line from where 9 candle movement starting, just like 1979. In both situation a up movement, little side wise consolidation, 9 bullish candle and from 10th candle market is going down to its correction. According to this analysis market should down around $3500/$3600 level before crossing latest higher high and to start another bull run to $5000. Although he is bullish side of gold long time but he always introduce himself as a technician that’s why as a technician it’s alright to take advantage of bearish move by shorting. He also were talking about the de-dollarization movement, huge debt of federal reserve, and a probable bad future of fiat currency). I’m also bullish side of both gold and silver but market needs correction before going just straight bullish. Gareth says people are very obsessed with one of the easiest trade which is execute long trade in gold but market has its own weird way to out most of them before starting a new al time high. And we all know that fact. I really found my philosophy about this analysis is pretty similar with Gareth.
What I found about this technical analysis in the same chart: I found that bearish movement after 9 candle strong bullish is repeating several time in the history of gold weekly chart. Similar behavior of market repeated in 2009, 2011 and also in 2020. And now in 2015 that similar thing most probably trying to happening again. And me as a analyst I also believe market most probably going to make that analogy true again. Donald Trump’s Tariff dividend announcement indicating a tariff recognition long time by not only Govt. but also citizen. Which Can drive USD bullish for a certain period of time, and that can help to make this analogy true again with 2025. Let’s break down one by one.
2009’s Nine Candle Magic: 2009’s Nine candle magic (Gold weekly chart on tradingview)
At the end of the 2009, Look at the chart before going another all time high; Price was consolidating around the rectangle I draw. This consolidation broke by a strong bullish candle and It’s make exactly 9 bullish candle to make a new higher high which was also all time high (Similar situation like 1979). After the end of total 9 bullish candle market made bearish move from 10th candle. And its gone back to near previous swing high support from where nine candle were starting. And then beginning another crazy bullish movement again to al time high. Which is Similar scenario with 1979. And probably this things happening again with end of 2025 according to Gareth.
2011’s Nine Candle Magic: 2011’s Nine candle magic (Gold weekly chart on tradingview)
In 2011 the price repeat the same scenario again. Little side wise consolidation in May and June and In July the consolidation movement is broke by two strong bullish candle and look at the bullish movement, there are nine candle behind the crazy bullish movement. After the end of none candle the bearish candle and movement is stated and come back at the zone from where first bullish candle of nine was started. Which is exactly the same scenario with 1979 and 2009. And now the pattern is stronger than 1979 and 2009 because double bottom is appears break the latest high and starting new all time high. If I summarize the analogy again: A little up move, side wise consolidation, exactly 9 candle bullish movement and then going back to the previous swing high from where 9 candle started and after touching that level market had gone it’s own way of new all time high.
2020’s Nine Candle Magic: 2020’s Nine candle magic (Gold weekly chart on tradingview)
Again, on 2020’s May, June, July, August look at Gold weekly chart. Exact same scenario happened in the price chart. Little side wise consolidation after a bull move which I show in the above chart with a rectangle, One candle break the level and make a sharp edge bullish move through 9 amount of weekly candle like 1979, 2009, 2011. Look how crazy bear candle structured (which is 10th candle) end of 9th. Price going back to the level from where the 1st candle of nine was started just like the magic (technical analyst may say this level as order block level). After touching that zone Price has repeat its character to make upper movement to break latest high and make new all time high.
N.B.
